Has anyone stopped eating?

I'm not talking about an eating disorder or even trying to lose weight, but my wedding is two and a half weeks away and I find that I'm just too busy and even when I have a second, my stomach usually hurts with stress and so I haven't been eating much.

A coworker told me it's normal, that she stopped eating before her wedding too, but I've never heard of it happening.

Has anyone else had this happen?

I haven't had it happen (yet), but I anticipate it and have seen several friends go through it. Just be careful you're not losing so much weight that your dress is too big. When anxiety made my stomach hurt, I found I could tolerate things like boiled edamame and saltines with peanut butter.

It's weird,  normally when I'm stressed with work or school,  I get like that,  I completely lose my appetite and I just don't feel hungry at all.   It would be normal for me to drop a few pounds during final exams so I thought I would be the same with the wedding stress.   Somehow the wedding stress affected me differently, and I ended up gaining a couple pounds in the last month before the wedding (it must have been all the bridal showers/travelling/catching up with people).

It's odd how wedding stress can get to you.  Just try to snack on things you like, maybe have a fruit smoothie with lots of nutritious fruit so you get your vitamins

I had this same feeling happen often between the 5-4 month out mark, and I get it when I'm stressed out (like around Christmas.)  I think it's common, but keep an eye on it. Things like this can spin out of control and evenutally you've got other health problems, or a disorder on your hands  and  that's not what you're after.

Be sure to keep hydrated and think of taking a multivitamin. Sometimes snacking on sensible small things throughout the day can help give you the energy you need to be so busy.

If it doesn't get better once you're hitched, I'd suggest seeing a doctor about anxiety. It really helped me out.

This happened to me but not until the last week. There's a famous story that my husband likes to tell about meeting me three days before the wedding in the parking lot of our apartment. He was coming in and I was going out to run more errands. He asked me if I had eaten and I said yes. He then asked WHAT I had eaten. I replied with, "Ummm.. Dr. Pepper!" He laughed and had food ready for me when I got home from running errands.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Like the other girls said, try to snack throught the day (keeping something on your stomach might actually help plus it'll give you more energy then eating the random large meal) and stay hydrated! If it doesn't get better after the wedding, see someone about it!

Good luck and don't forget to have fun!

I too completely lose my appetite when I'm anxious, and then I become grumpy from the low blood sugar, and then when people notice I'm grumpy and suggest I eat something I become even grumpier. It's pretty fantastic.

If your stomach hurts when you eat something, try a smoothie instead. I used to get a certain berry Jamba Juice when I was hung over, which stomach-wise to me is a similar feeling to anxiety. Go for the low-fat, low-sugar, non-ice cream one, though  : )
