Commenting to follow. I’ve collected most if not all of mine but haven’t put it together yet. I have been thinking about this as well.

I haven’t had to travel on a plane but I did pack it up in a box when I moved a few months ago.  I put a vase in the box and then packed newspaper around the vase.  I put the brooch bouquet in the vase and then put more paper on top to protect all the brooches and cushion it against the top of the box.  It arrived in 100% perfect condition.  Not sure about TSA though… I would think that carrying it on would be the least nerve racking option (not worrying about it getting lost in the mail, making it through checked luggage, etc.) I can’t imagine why it would be an issue going through security.  Maybe try calling the airlines?  Or I wonder if there is a TSA 1-800 number or something you could try.  If you could get written permission that would be even better (in case someone tried to give you a heard time the day of).

DisneyKb:  lol I totally understand! Definitely worth it to do your research and find out before your standing in the airport on the verge of tears because TSA is trying to tell you that you can’t bring your bouquet on the plane lol. Peace of mind is everything during wedding planning.

DisneyKb:  My bouquet wasn’t a brooch one but i had a few in it (it was real touch flowers) I packed all of my bouquets in a plastic rubbermaid like container and checked it in oversize cause all the bridesmaids bouquets were in there also. It made sure they were safe from getting crushed and I didnt have to worry about them not letting me bring it on the plane. I ended up leaving the plastic container in Cuba cause I couldnt be bothered to bring it home and I just put my bouquet in my lugguage when we came home. Maybe you can get a smaller plastic contatiner and pack it in that in your lugguage to keep it from getting crushed?

If the pins are detached you should be fine. I once got hassled in the airport check-in (years ago, before tightened security), because when they scanned my carry-on, they found the pouch that contained my jewelry, and a few pins. They almost didn’t let me through with it.

I just brought my brooch bouquet for my wedding to Hawaii on the plane in my carry-on suitcase. I didn’t remove the pins when I made the wire stems so technically the pins were still pins. I packed the bouquet in big bubble wrap and put it in the suitcase. It went through security smoothly both on the way there and on the way back and no one had an issue with it or even asked me about it.

rimimi:  I have to take my brooch bouquet on a flight from UK to USA. I was going to check it in as I was worried about the brooches going throigh security. I might phone the airline but in pretty sure they will give me nothing in writing as I’ve asked for stuff in writing before. Might just check it in and leave if as that!

DisneyKb:  I had read that people had trouble with taking normal pins on board the plane. I think that since they are part of the bouquet and can’t be deattached that it shouldn’t be a problem. Are you also carrying on your dress? If so, they’ll clearly see you’re headed to your wedding and hopefully won’t give you any problems. I was worried I’d have issues getting it through but I had none!

DisneyKb:  Haha yes, definitely a great time to get away with wearing a Bride shirt! I thought I would have to give them a long explanation but I figured I would only do that after the asked or questioned it.. and they didn’t! 🙂 Good luck!! I am sure it will be fine!
