Has anyone tried selling their wedding dress?

I have sold two on eBay – the first I bought in a 48hr sale so when I sold it I still got what I considered a good price against the original. The second I bought really cheap from eBay and then resold for only slightly less.  I am currently in the process of selling a third but trying to be patient as I want a reasonable price for it.  You can’t really go wrong as long as you keep to a budget – mine £1,000 for my dress and I am still going to come in under that even with the £200 loss on selling my previous dresses.

I sold a dress on Tradesy weddings. I recovered most of the cost and it was fast and easy.

BTW I live in Japan too and I understand the frustration of not being able to find anything you like here. It’s all too expensive, and I don’t want to look like a cupcake, so I bought my dress online from BHLDN.

I’ve been trying to sell one. I’ve had inquiries, but nothing solid. I thought the dress was beautiful (still do, very much). Our plans changed and we ended up not wearing wedding attire at all.

Maybe this dress I’m selling isn’t anyone else’s cup of tea. It’s a shame because it’s so unique and (I think) gorgeous.

Mrs.DK:  i donated mine to a place in Dallas that uses your wedding dress to make angel gowns for babies who pass away in the hospital. i would rather donate to such a great thing than make a few bucks back

I sold a discountinued sample gown I purchased for 99 dollars. I put it up on preowned wedding dresses.com and it sold in less than a month for $500 plus shipping.

I put another sample dress I bought for $131 up, although I plan to wear it. I put it up for $700 so if it sells fine. If not I’ll wear it. I have had no inquires.

i think women loom for specific dresses on preowned dress sites Like tradsey and preownedweddingdress.com. they can be on the site longer than on ebay.

unfortunatly I think the dresses that sell the quickest are $500 and under bc it’s a gamble….

Mrs.DK:  Yeah, I sold my dress from Japan. With Tradesy you set your price to include shipping. My dress was originally from David’s Bridal, which my mom had shipped to Japan for me, and she said it cost her $50 to ship it. So, I assumed that’s how much it would cost me to ship it to a customer in the states, and I took that into account when setting my asking price. However, my dress was very lightweight and I was able to fit it into a small box, so my shipping fee was lower than I had expected, only 1800 yen. The customer on the other end was very satisfied too, and it all worked out great.
