    Hey all!

I know a lot of you bees have done P90X or Insanity, or some other muscle confusion-based workout plan...

I was on Amazon and found a similar workout dvd series for only $20 called "Supreme 90 Day" and was wondering if anyone had any experience with this?

It's sooo much cheaper than P90X and the dvds are shorter (which appeals to me, since I can't dedicate an hour or more per day like P90X requires).

It got great reviews on Amazon, so I ordered it, and it came in the mail today.

I can't wait to give it a shot, but wanted to hear stories from anyone who has tried it already!

@7SEVENJ9:  I see you recently completed Ripped in 30, as did I.  After seeing your post on the ri30 thread about the supreme 90, i looked into it and it looks great!  Have you tried it yet? And if so, how do you think it compares to JM's dvd's?  Interested to see what you think about it.

@SoontobeMrsGP - I just started previewing some of these dvds (I've done three of the 10 so far) and WOW. They are tough. They require a fitness ball and a set of hand weights, which I had at home already - yikes, I thought Jillian was tough! These are very challenging, but doable - and work muscles that I guess Jillian's workouts neglect, because I am SORE! I'm a huge fan so far! I'm gonna do the 90 days after my vacation but will be working these in over the next 19 days til I leave! I can see why people have reviewed this positively!

@7SEVENJ9: How heavy are your hand weights?  I was using 5's with JM, but just bought a set of 10's bc i wanted to go heavier.  I need to get the ball though.  You know, I thought RI30 was tough, but when I finished it, I did a kettlebell dvd I hadn't done in a while and could barely move for a couple of days after!  I was shocked bc I thought Jillian's worked just about everything, but maybe not hard enough.

So do you think it's a good mix of strength and cardio or is it lacking in one or the other?  What do you think about the split routine?  For instance, say you work arms one day, how long until you work them again or do you just pick whatever group you want to work on any given day? Most of the dvd's I use are more of a full body workout, so this is new to me.  Thanks for your input!  I always like to read reviews to get a general feel how effective a dvd is gonna be before I buy it and there seems to be great reviews on this one!

@soon2beMrsGP - For this workout series, I bought 10's (and am going to buy some 8's too) because I was using 5's with JM as well. I do think there's a good mix of Strength and Cardio - most of the dvds that I've tried so far have kept my heart rate up even if it's a "strength" dvd which is similar to JM. The Tabata and Cardio Challenge DVDs are intense. They give you a chart that outlines what dvd you're supposed to do when for max results with the DVDS - it has rest days built in, etc too. Seems to work me pretty well so far! I did "shoulders & arms" last night and today my arms are TOAST. I alternated between the 10lb weight, my 5's and even my 3's at the end depending on the exercise. Phew!

ok you've convinced me!  I must get it ;)   Have you done the dvd with the exercise ball yet? The only thing thats holding me back starting this program is I don't know if I want to give up my kettlebells.  They are great-i love using them.  I wonder if I could substitue a dvd, perhaps the ball, and replace it with my kettlebell dvd?   The kettlebells kick my butt, so I cant imagine it would skew the results of the program.  What do you think?

@soon2beMrsGP - definitely substitute in your kettlebells if you want - I love love love NMTZ by JM, so I'll be doing that one sometimes instead of a strength video. I've done the Ultimate Ball dvd, and it's tough, definintely shows me I need to work on my core strength. One caveat, if you're thinking of skipping the ball workout because you dont have a ball, the other dvds use the ball too, though Tom gives modifications for people who don't have a ball. I will be switching up the program to figure in more cardio too just cus I love it!

@7SEVENJ9:  ok cool!  Lol I just did nmtz yesterday :)  I love that one too!  Yeah,  I guess I'll get the ball.  I had one a while ago and loved using it, but I don't know what happened to it...Lol I hate cardio!!  Are you using the meal plan or just doing your own thing as far as diet?  If you haven't already, check out the supreme 90 day page on facebook.  Interesting to read what others that are going through the program have to say and there are some progress pics too.  Pretty cool :)

@7SEVENJ9: Just had to tell you i got my S90 @ Target on clearance for like $13.49!  Score :)  Got the ball too, it was $20 so I'm ready to go.  Gonna start Monday :)  Are you doing it 6 days/wk?

@Soon2beMrsGP - WOW that's awesome! My local Target was sold out, probably because they were on clearance for so cheap! I'm not really using the meal plan, but I'm incorporating some of the ideas of it - 5-6 small meals a day, lots of water. I probably will use some of the meal ideas now and then. I just "liked" the S90 facebook page and was checking it out last night too! I'm planning to do it 6 days a week, though my "rest" days will be different from what they show on their calendar - gonna rest on saturdays since that's my normal "no exercise" day. I'm so excited to have someone else doing it with me! :)

I was looking through the meal plan and the calendar last night and kinda freaked out about their schedule bc I like my day off on the weekend too, either saturday or sunday.  Going by the schedule, my day off will be wednesday for a couple of weeks and that sucks.  I was wondering if it would be ok to change that up a little, so I'm glad to hear you're gonna change your rest day.  Surely it won't mess anything up...I know, it helps when someone else is doing it to talk to :)

@7SEVENJ9: Hi there!  Yep, starting today when I get home from work.  I'm excited!  I previewed a few of the dvd's over the weekend and boy, they look tough...The ultimate ball looks crazy hard to stay on that ball!  I started the meal plan today too.  So far, so good.  I'll let ya know what I think of chest/back tomorrow :)

@Soon2beMrsGP - Oh. My. God. Last week when I did chest/back, I used 5lb weights for most of it. Today I used 10lb weights. My back is SO tight right now. It was definitely a challenge. Holy. Crap.

@7SEVENJ9: lmao!!!  I used 5 and 10 #s on some and I'm just a little sore in my back today, not as bad as i thought I would be.  Did you use 10's on everything? I think swinging a kettlebell gives me a pretty good back workout usually.  But I'm sure I was focused more on the exercise and form rather than giving 100% since it was my first time doing it.  The only real problem I had was the dang ball...not doing the pushups, but the alt. arm prone something or other. The ball kept moving on me and I couldn't stabalize it with my legs. Do you have a problem with that move?  I hope that my ball isn't too big. I got the smallest (55 cm) and it says for 5' to 5'3"; I'm 4'9" so I hope I don't have problems with it. I want to conquer that ball!! Well, I also had a problem with so many moves being done on my knees. I fell on Sunday outside on some cattle panels and both my knees are bruised and swollen, but I made it through it Laughing  Now for Ultimate Ball tonite...Wish me luck!

I have the 55cm ball too (I'm 5'3") and I was having the same problem! I ended up putting the weights behind it so it wouldn't roll around on me!

I used the 10's for most of the moves, the 5's only for a couple - I feel like I have good strength in my upper and lower back, but my MID back is what's killing me today - I think from the prone move and the supermans on the ball. Most of the workouts I've done in the past have (evidently) overlooked midback!

Good luck with Ultimate Ball, I didn't do so hot on that one on my first time through, but am hoping to improve today!

Yeah, the only way I could do the prone move was to brace my feet against my dresser and knock out a few!  I used the 10's on the majority of the moves and 5's on a few maybe; however on that prone move, I think I even used 3's just so I could do a few after i figured out how to stabilize it.  Next time I do chest/back will be better :)

Good luck to you today too!  I'm sure today will be super awkward for me on the first go round, rolling all over the floor!  Will be fun tho!  It will get easier each time I'm sure :)

@Soon2beMrsGP - yeah, definitely gets easier once you're familiar with the moves! I was able to really focus on form in Chest/Back this time, whereas last time, I was stumbling about wondering what was coming next, and not keeping up a good pace !

Wow, 7, UB was fun!  I really enjoyed that one :)  It was hard, some moves extremely hard, but I made it through the whole thing, even the pikes!  They weren't pretty by any means, but I got in the basic position for several seconds.  A couple of times I almost face-planted!!  Funny thing is that when I got done, i thought holy crap, here comes the soreness tomorrow, but I'm not really sore.  Were you after you did it the 1st time?  Don't get me wrong, I'm still a tiny bit sore, but I think it's mainly from Monday's chest/back.  I just knew my abs would be sore but they're not really.  I can feel a tiny bit of soreness if I really try to find it, but nothing near what I expected.  I know i worked hard...but I usually do work my abs pretty good.  Maybe they're not 'shocked' into soreness by yesterdays w/o.  I think i'm kinda disappointed in a way i'm not more sore.  What has been your experience so far with being sore and how was it for you yesterday doing it for the 2nd time?

@Soon2beMrsGP - I wasn't super sore after UB either the first time - I was not feeling great last night and today, so I will be doing UB tomorrow hopefully, though I have a late appointment and may not be home early enough to squeeze it in. GRR this week has been insane! I was most sore after "Arms & Shoulders."

@michkarose - I got mine online, but Soon2beMrsGP got hers on clearance at Target - I've also heard it can be found at Bed, Bath & Beyond, Walgreens, and I even saw it yesterday at Best Buy in the As Seen on TV section!

@7SEVENJ9:  Hope you get to feeling better!  I did my 1st Tabata last night and holy crap!  First few circuits, I was like this isn't so bad, and it went on and on and on and the last couple of circuits I was panting and saying bad words!!  It was tough towards the end, but I did the whole thing, no extra pauses, puking or anything!  When i was finished, I felt like it was a real accomplishment :) I was actually pretty psyched about it.  I am more sore today than I've been all week, but still nothing crazy.  My pants are looser today than they were last week :)  Shoulders/Arms tonight, so maybe that one will really make me sore like it did you :)

@michkarose: yes to all the  places 7SEVENJ9 listed above, but wanted to add when I got mine at Target it was $13.98.  I have heard other people found it recently @ Target for $9 something, so that is a steal if you can find it!  Good luck :)

@soon2bemrsgp - I'm definitely feeling better today, just hope I can get out of work on time today. Tabata made me curse too! It reminded me of the Jillian workouts sort of, with the "no rest" but holy crap, it just seemed so LONG! Cardio Challenge is similar, but not as scary as Tabata (at least to me!)

I know what you mean, I thought it would never end!  I did like there were several moves from Jillian's dvd's in there, so i was already fimiliar with them.  I did think the Tabata was much more difficult than any of the JM's workouts.  Did you?

Wow! Never heard of this. I will give it a try! How long is each work out approximately? I can't do the P90x anymore. I moved pretty far from my work after the wedding. And now I don't have that kind of time anymore. Frown

@sasha2011 - they're between 30-45 minutes long - I think Tabata is the longest one at 49 minutes including warm-up and cooldown.

@soon2beMrsGP - yes, I agree, it was harder than the Jillian ones I've done. I get pretty out of breath with BFBM but the lack of "rest" time in Tabata made it harder!

I did Ultimate Ball last night, and definitely did better this time than the first time I did it. I wore my heart rate monitor and in the 41 minute work out (including warmup and cooldown) I burned 200 calories with 41% fat. Not bad considering it wasn't a cardio workout!

I'm doing Tabata Inferno tonight, so I'm thinking it'll be a good burn since it's 49 minutes of intense cardio!

@7SEVENJ9:  I hope I do better my 2nd time with UB next week too :) What kind of hrm do you use?  Does it have the chest strap?  I'm trying to find one right now.  I looked on amazon earlier in the week when I ordered my body fat scale and couldn't really find one with the chest strap that showed hr + calories burned that wasn't really expensive.  200 cals and 41% fat is great!  Yeah, definately let me know how many cals you burn with TI tonight!

@Soon2beMrsGP - I have a Polar F6 hrm with chest strap. I like it a lot, got it a couple of years ago, and I saw it on overstock for $116.99. I think I paid around $150 for it. The FT40 is pretty good too, and the FT7 got good reviews.

I think I'm going to go to Walmart today and get a new scale, as mine is pretty terrible - I can't get the same reading twice!

@7SEVENJ9: Polar seems to be a very popular brand.  I'll have to check around and see what I can find.  I want to use my Amex rewards points so it doesn't cost me anything!  I got my scale from amazon using points so no out of pocket :)  I should get my scale early next week.  My jeans I'm wearing today are looser than they were last Friday, so I know something is working!!

292 calories burned (32% fat) in Tabata Inferno according to my HRM. I used 5lb weights for the squats so I could go faster (in keeping with the fact that it's a cardio workout) but will be buying the 8's for next time. Used a 10lb weight for the seated rotations and lumberjack swings.

@7SEVENJ9: hmm, I expected it to be more calories burned bc it's such a kick a$$ workout, didn't you?  Dont get me wrong, almost 300 calories burned is good, but it's so difficult it feels like it should be like 600!!  Don't you think?

I love the Supreme 90 Day!  I bought it as a supplement when couldn't make the gym  Tabata is my favorite out of them all.  Couldn't walk the next day after the first time through it and I run 4-5 miles a day!

For anyone looking for it, I purchased it through LTD commodities for 14.95.
