I am attempting to do my whole wedding without the use of flowers...just because I like a challenge and like to be different! I am researching feather bouquets on etsy and am thinking of doing clutches instead of bouquets for my girls. Has anyone done this? Do you have photos to share? I am wondering if this will look OK and also how to jazz them up? Thanks!!

Interesting idea!!! I am excited to see your responses! A clutch with some kind of brooch or eye-catching adorenment on it would be really cute.

My concern would be the awkwardness of walking down the aisle and where they would hold them. I think the idea is very fresh and unique and beautiful. If you could pin down the logisitcs its a greattt idea. Plus the clutches could do double duty. Not only would you save money on flowers, but you could also give as your BM gift or one of your BM gifts if you planned on giving multiple. Not to mention they are obviously totally reusable.

See if you can't get more photos of the example chicky posted to see what that bride did.

I think this sounds like a wonderful idea! Adding feathers/cute little baubles would totally dress up a clutch and I really think you can make it work!!

what a cute idea!  It's so unique and creative, love it!  Are you going to have the same clutch, or with some variation between them?

Cute, as long as you have the time to spend on it.  Once the big day comes, the flowers or clutches will be the last thing on your mind!  :)

We talked about this a few months back in another thread. I love the idea of clutches also. I think it will depend on the dresses my girls wear. As an alternate I thought of each of them wearing a wrist corsage (but you could eliminate flowers all together and make it look very chic!)

Here's a blog post on the topic. http://crosscountrywed.blogspot.com/2009/08/in-bridesmaids-hands.html

Love this idea!!!  I was thinking of getting each of my BMs a clutch anyway...and there's no reason why they need to have bouquets on top of that!  This has definitely confirmed for me that it can look just as beautiful with just a clutch on its own (with some embellishments of course!).  Looks forward to any other pic examples that you Bees might have!

A friend of mine did this last year, but her bridesmaids had the clutches open and the flowers were coming out of them! Super cute. But I can't find any photos.

Well, now that I've read this thread, I'm incredibly tempted.

It'll come down to how much it is for a bridesmaid bouquet vs a clutch w/flowers though.

We'll see though - I love the look of it!

@ soon.to.be.person: you read my mind! I've been considering doing the same thing! I decided I'm definitely doing the clutches, and I've ordered these but in ivory (the metal swirl is just the stand the purse is sitting in):

I'm still not 100% sure I want to do a feather bouquet, but this is my favorite one, although I prefer it without the netting:

I've pretty much considered ONLY clutches instead of bouquets. When I heard about it about a year ago, I knew that's what I wanted to do.

It's so unique!!! I'm still considering whether or not the bridesmaids will wear a wrist corsage or flowers pinned to the purse.

I did this for my wedding!!

The bridesmaids loved having something to take home from the wedding

And my maid of honor kept the grooms ring in her purse...adorable!

We had our bridesmaids/groomsmen walk into the ceremony together, this helped with any feeling of awkardness in how to hold the clutch. It looked totally natural and great :)

David Tutera did this on one of his shows, very classy. And if you get the right dress, thats an outfit.

I am sold! I found the perfect clutch for my wedding too. My colors are gray and fuschia and all of the bridesmaids are wearing pink. This way the flower aspect is covered as well.

This is definitely my plan. I'm not a flower kinda girl, so it didn't make sense to spend money on something I wasn't into. So, I'll be buying my girls clutches as their gift from me, they'll hopefully be able to re-use them!

How did the Bmaids carry them!? Did they craddle them!? Just hold them at their side?

I would be worried I wouldnt know what to do with my hands! lol
