We’re doing cupcakes for our cake. I bought these wrapers to make them look nice: http://www.greenpartygoods.com/cupcake-wrap-reversibleformalpkg12-p-991.html
What I didn’t know was that the wrappers only go around the sides of the cupcake. It seems to me that if I use these and if someone picks up the cupcake from the sides (like you do), the cupcake will fall out of the bottom. I could be wrong . . .
Has anyone used these? How did they work?

The cupcake couldn’t fall out of the bottom, because the bottom of the cupcake is the part with the smallest circumference – it gets bigger as it goes up, so the opening wouldn’t be big enough!
Plus, no one will be grabbing the cupcake lightly enough that they’re only touching the wrapper, if that makes sense. When you grab it, you grip it to where you’re touching the actual cupcake underneath the wrapper, holding it into place. 🙂

No, it won’t fall out the bottom. The wrapper is pretty tight and angled in, so basically the cupcake sits inside the wrapper, but doesn’t fall all the way to the bottom of it (unless you have tiny cupcakes). Maybe you could ask your bakery for a sample cupcake to make sure it fits properly.

Thanks! I figured they must work somehow since they are so popular. I have another tasting with my baker in a week and will bring the wrappers with me.

I’ve used these a lot… and once your guests pick up the cupcake, the wrap will most likely fall open. Every type of cupcake wrap I’ve used seems to have a wide female end & a small male end. Haha that’s the only way to describe it…
I have used glue dots to keep them together though. Not a big deal, its just when youère doing 300 it can become a huge undertaking!
