hey, girl!
first off, congrats! i actually used jay for my wedding and i would NEVER recommend him to anyone! he was by far my worst vendor. he didn't return my calls or emails in a timely manner (minimum a couple of weeks) and his promises were always broken. i was supposed to have my wedding video completed in about three or four months, but it took him 13 months to finish it! i would contact him asking for an update and he would always say that it'll be ready in a couple of weeks. well, that dragged out to an extra 10 months or so to finish! that's ridiculous! my sibling and other friends actually used him too because of his initial pricing, but we all had the same experience. we're obviously not going to recommend him to anyone. it was truly an annoying and frustrating experience working with him. if you don't want your wedding experience to be dampened in any way then i would look for someone else. i hope this helps!

I did notice he is very slow in replying E-mail but I thought he is just busy.. I just sent in my deposite and now I am seriously considering if I should back out!!
honestly, i would totally recommend that you back out at this point. don't have any regrets later! make any excuse to get your money back. it'll be worth the hassle! as far as the quality of work, i can't say that it's the worst video. however, i'm not completely satisfied either because compared to other videos from jay that took less than 13 months to complete, you could tell that he sort of rushed mine just to finish it and get it off his to-do list. again, try to find someone else if you can. he's not worth it.
Hello...I was reading xoxo comments on Jay Joo and I have to agree that I was really disappointed with Jay too. I had so much expectations with my video (i'm sure you saw examples at his office) and I completely regret not going with the videographer my photographer worked with. I think it's sad that I am grateful that we have some sort of finished product. I was so worried I wasn't going to even get anything because he was taking so long and kept telling me he is so busy. It's good that he's busy and doing well but he shouldn't treat his clients this way. We paid for his services and we should receive what we pay for. I almost want to ask him for the un edited version of what he recorded that day and take it somewhere else. I'm sure he would not use our video as an example because he would not book any new clients with it. I see that you've already sent in your deposit...looking back, I would've totally booked someone else. I recommended him to my friend who is getting married in December. He was a little over her budget for what she wanted so she went with someone else and I AM SO GLAD she didn't go with him because I would've felt so bad for recommending him! Good Luck!

I have the same opinion as everyone else. It is nearly 10 months and we have no received anything besides excuses. They don't respond timely to emails and they don't pick up phone calls. I am considering legal action.

I also had the same experience w/ this vendor. it took 11months for us to receive our video and not the best quality. jay joo and his wife mira joo are the worst liars and business owners and their business should really be closed down.
they never even called back, replied emails for a long time before my husband and i kept bugging. though they took so many months editing our video, they were shamless other than the time period they took to send our video, which was just speechless to even argue back with them. i could tell by watching the video that he rushed in editing the video and i was really pissed cuz they initially told us that before finalizing the video they would call us to review the semi-final video.. and they never did! they just shipped it out w/o doing any of that! and when i called to complain about it, jay joo said they never show the video for customers to review before finalizing it. omg! a total liar! one of my friends used him too for her wedding and she had a schedule with them to go in their studio to review their video. aren't they ridiculous?!!
both my friends and i argued so much with them that received partial cash back, but i wouldn't mind receiving all that back to just toss this piece of shit work they did. i really want them going out of business in no time!!
To all those harmed by Jay Joo, after you receive your video file a complaint to Better Business Bureau. It looks like he supplements his income with small business advertising videos. We need to mark him as the snake he is.

Any update girls? I had my wedding in a couple of months ago, and I haven't heard back from them... >.< I'm getting worried... How come I see they had the video recap out for two couples who had their weddings in May a week or two after their respective weddings?
@orgopeach: Did you get your video yet? I've been calling him and he is not calling me back or responding to my emails. I think that I have to take legal actions and was wondering what happended to you. Do you think that he skipped town?

I'm going to hold off involving any courts or lawyers because I spoke to both my coordinator and Mira recently, and I believe they'll come through. Jay's been hospitalized multiple times, and I think everyone deserves some degree of understanding in the case of illness and emergencies. As for the amount of time he's taken to edit videos, from what I heard, he does take a year plus... I'm not in a particular hurry, and I want him to do the video as I love his work, so I'm going to wait it out.

@cowala:Any response whether by email or as a general post on their website would have been the minimal response. First the normal delivery time is 3 months as is the standard language on his contracts. Second the cost is about 2-5k. If he is indeed ill or hospitalized, he does have his wife or his videographers to provide a minimal response to that effect. Now, he has at least 3 couples (and maybe more) in small claims court. I'm not sure how the litigation will affect his future ability to deliver in any effect. Perhaps the best thing to do would be the get the raw footage and have someone else edit it. The longer one waits, the less likely anything will come of it.
From his last correspondence to me last year, he was already seven couples behind. With no responses at all it does not encourage any optimism.
I have heard from Mira recently, and she's sending me the raw footage first because I wanted something to show my grandfather, who is not well. She's been responsive and is making an effort, so for me, that's good enough. The timeframe to deliver my video is not up yet, and I'm willing to wait because, like I said, I think Jay's work are fabulous. I understand for some couples, the wait has been too long, and perhaps it will eventually be for me as well. I hope everything works out for you and for them too. =)
Just an update, I received the raw footage a while back and am expecting to get the highlight video shortly as well. Hope things are looking good for you guys as well.

I tried to contact Jay and Mira too. They still do not pick up phone calls or emails. I noticed Jay putting up pet project videos online for the past 6 months (including one last month), so he should be alive and well. Is he using the wedding money to fund his other career? I'm worried.
jay also filmed my wedding back in may and i can't seem to get a hold of him or mira. it would be great if anyone who has been in touch with them recently can share some info! thanks a bunch!
Ditto to hiltk and manool's postings - Jay's company did the videography for my wedding in late August, and we haven't heard from him or his wife since then. Our wedding coordinator hasn't heard from them since November. Has anyone heard from or gotten their videos from them in 2011? Thanks everyone!

I'm SO angry!!! we had them do our wedding june 2011 and mira said that they would send the raw footage. NOTHING.
i can't believe they would be so evil to just take off with peoples' money.... so unethical and dishonest.

Jay videographed my wedding in may of 2010. We've sent him several emails and letters since then with no luck. Last time we were in contact was on my wedding day when he told me that it was the best wedding he ever shot. My husband and I tried to be partient since we read that some couples got their videos and or raw footage a year or so later. It's been more than a year and I was ready to finally file a small claims today against him. But now I'm reading these last few comments and wonder if it's even worth going through the trouble. What happens if you file a small claims and they don't show up? What are everyone's next steps? I saw some comments about a class action lawsuit. Is there anything I should know or do? I just feel clueless about what to do next. Thanks in advance for any feedback.
I received a letter in the mail today notifying that mira joo @ the above address is filing for bankrupcy. There's a meeting of creditors on Feb. 24, 2012. Has anyone else received this letter and what actions are you planning on taking?
how did you get mail from Mira Joo? did you visit her at factory place? it seems from blogger when the went only yoda the dog greeter them at the door and mira not open door for them. does she have our videos anymore? another blogger mentioned 4 weeks ago jay responded with still waiting for shipping of his video things to korea, he's practically homeless, not have his equipment, moved to korea for health reasons, lost money due to fraud upon him, etc etc...
@rhubarbs: I too received the "Notice of Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Case, Meeting of Creditors, & Deadlines" letter last week. It's sent directly from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court stating that Mira Joo is filing for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy.
Key statements on the reverse of this form document: "The debtor is seeking a discharge of most debts, which may include your debt." "There does not appear to be any property available to the trustee to pay creditors. You therefore should not file a proof of claim at this time."
So...if you're hoping for a full or partial refund, I think this makes that very unlikely.
However, I don't think it's unreasonable to request that Mira hand over the original raw footage tapes/DVD's of our weddings to us if she still has them. There's no intrinsic market value to those tapes/DVD's, and thus they can't be liquidated to pay other debts anyway.
There's a Meeting of Creditors ("The debtor must be present at the meeting to be questioned under oath by the trustee and by creditors. Creditors are welcome to attend, but are not required to do so.") on February 24, 2012 at 8 a.m. at 725 S. Figueroa St., Room 101, Los Angeles, CA 90017.
Given that Jay is no longer in the U.S. and Mira is avoiding everyone, that could be the best (and only) time to make any requests before she completely goes into hiding.
BTW, the bankruptcy case number is 2:12-bk-11473-TD
