I've worked with them but never employed them. Generally though, I think it would be worth it. They will set it up and, importantly, take it all down. Being in the UK though, I can't help with budget.
I hired a decorator. I could have used her for flowers also but we have a florist in the family.
I haven't had my wedding yet but I have met with the decorator a few times so we could pick things out together. The decorator the florist and I are meeting at my venue (cousin's big backyard) to go over all the details. I am uber excited.
She is covering everything from tables, chairs, linens, dance floor to centerpieces and all decor including a canopy made of lights, vintage pink sofa, shabby chic doors ect.
Set up and take down is included as well.
The cost roughly $2500
Here is her web page to see what the decor is like. http://lastingimpressionsaz.blogspot.com/
@luvmyDwight: Oh that is lovely!
That sounds roughly in line with what I am expecting. We're having a Hindu ceremony and an Indian reception - so lots of colors and lots of stuff. As of right now, we're looking at a high end (unfortunately) full service event planning company - mainly, we started there because they're already doing our catering. I'm hoping to get them to do the ceremony decorations, reception decorations, and flowers for $7000. And after I typed that out and read it back to myself I wanted to vomit...weddings are so expensive!
I know that if they will do it, it will be AMAZING (I've seen their other work) but I'm hoping they won't break the bank. In the meantime, I'm looking elsewhere since they won't get back to me with a full quote and detailed estimate for another month.
ETA (again!): I won't be carrying a bouquet, nor will my bridesmaids and there will be no boutonnieres or corsages. Basically, our floral budget is decorations for the Mandap (kind of like chuppah in Hindu weddings, we get married under it), centerpieces, and florals that are part of the decor.

Hi Bees,
We're still trying to decide on venues and location, but an option we're really leaning towards is getting married in the town where we went to college. We don't have any friends or family in the area, but we are in a situation where no matter where we have it, almost all people will have to travel. This seems like it's in a good spot for the majority of people to drive and it's in a metropolitan area so it would be cheaper to fly as well.
If we're planning this wedding long distance, I'm okay hiring someone to handle florals and decor. We have the budget for it (I think) and quite frankly, I'm not that creative. I'd like to just let other people handle it.
Has anyone let a professional handle all of these details? Was it worth it? How much did you budget for it?
Thank you!!
ETA: I see so many helpful posts about flower budgets, but not really much about the rest of the decor. Is this because most people DIY? Sorry, I'm so new at this!!!
