@peachbaby4008:  Yes, same here. I am on Microgestin. It pretty much sucks…

When I was on the BC pill (forget which one) I was horrible! I couldn’t even stand myself. I had to go off of it because my mood was so bad.

I have always had a hard time emotionally on bc, and actually had the same thing with not being able to be touched. Ivthought it was just me until now even though that was a long time ago!

I got a copper iud about three years ago.

@peachbaby4008:  Same problem.  Same birth control!  I’ve been on it for 4 months and still haven’t adjusted.  I gained 10lbs.  (But I lose almost all of it the week of hormone free pills), no sex drive, and mood swings out of this world!  According to my doctor, its because I switched from Lo loestrin fe which has 10 mcg of Estrogen to Loestrin which has 20 mcg of Estrogen.  My body is freaking out over the extra Estrogen.  I have an appointment to see a gyn next week to see if he will special order the lo loestrin to get me back normal.

Call your doctor.  Maybe they will have some suggestions for you!

Wow! I’ve been on yaz for four years now, no problems whatsoever. There was a three month interlude where I was on a different bc (loestrin, i think- it was cheaper) and I hated it! Birth control should not make you feel this way. There are so many different pills on the market, a little trial and error should help you all find one that actually works for you! It’s just tough because it takes 3 months or so for your body to adjust to each new formulation.

Have any of you guys tried nuva ring? Because the hormones are localized, I’ve heard that side effects are pretty minimal. The birth control patch could also be an option?

Yes, it reduced my way over the top PMS extreme emotions.

Now that I’m reading through the thread, I’m sensing a theme…hating loestrin. Ladies, maybe it’s just that formulation! It made me fat and sad, and I immediately turned back into myself when I went back on yaz.

Yes, my first pilll was Microgynon and it was awful. I knew in two weeks that I would never take it again. I am now on Yaz which has a lower hormone dose and I’m fine. Definitely ask your doctor about switching pills. Every woman is different, so even if a friend recommends a particular pill, it might not work for you.

I have also tried Implanon (so easy and cheap, BUT I had a constant period) and Nuva-Ring (expensive, and I had to take it out for sex and remember to put it back in, which was annoying). I really need to look into trying a hormone-free IUD.

I became such a raving b*tch on the Nuvaring that I had to go off it after a few months. It was MISERABLE. I ended up going a non-hormone route, and I’ve never looked back!

Yep, I’ve been on several different bc pills and they can really mess with you.  My advice is to stick with it for several months to see if it will regulate.  If not, try something new!

I’m not on birth control anymore – but I was on YAZ for a couple of years, and while I was seemingly fine on it for the first couple of months, eventually I found that I’d turned into a complete raving bitch. I was angry, irritable, and got in these huge blowout fights with my FI all the time. Thankfully though, things have gotten a lot better for me since I’ve come off it!
