I know I’m probably getting my shorts in a knot for no reason but I just bought my dress last month and FI has almost caught sight of it TWICE already through pictures. With the way technology is, it keeps popping up on my iPhone or sometimes I’ll have a folder open on my computer and it’s really upsetting me.
I’ve since done everything I can to make “hidden folders” and such, but I still feel sad that he almost saw it. He says all he saw was something white and he turned away, but he might’ve been trying to console me. The more I think about it, the more I wonder if it’s THAT important.
So just of curiosity (and so I could vent about it), did your FI ever see your dress beforehand? Were you not that concerned about the “first look” tradition? Did any of you flat out show him before the wedding?

Yes, becasue he was stalking me on wedding bee and I had posted it witrh me in the dress when I got it. After the weddign he even admitted he didn’t like it on me when he saw it but that he liked it in person. The pic was quite aweful, it was all blurry too. Oh well. Shouldn’t be stalking if they want to be suprized.

Not my exact dress, but he has seen an extremely similar dress in a magazine that I was looking at. He just happened to look over and there were like 5 dresses on the page. He says, “ugh. I don’t like any of those. They’re so ugly.” Hah! I’m sure he’ll change his mind when he sees me in mine, but still!

Well, he’s got a year to forget it! Guys don’t notice details like we do, especially about wedding stuff. Him saying he saw a blue of white is probably exactly that – most guys don’t know a damn thing about wedding dresses so don’t worry!

I was showing him pictures in my phone and I forgot to delete the ones of me when I bought my dress! Luckily they were small and I scrolled past them really quickly so he only got a quick glimpse of the color. He said he was glad I wasn’t wearing a black dress (I joked with him that I bought one) 😛

He hasn’t “accidentally” seen it – he was with me when I picked it out! I don’t even think of it as a tradition/non-tradition thing. It’s going to look SO different when I’m all dressed up with hair and makeup and veil and accessories, so it’s not like I’ve really ruined the “surprise” for him.
I think seeing a photo of a dress on a model is way different than seeing it on the woman you love. I wouldn’t stress about it too much if he accidentally sees it. He’ll forget anyway and when you’re all dressed up on your wedding day, he’ll think you look amazing.

@adoc86: HAHAHA! FI told me he hated trumpet/mermaid style gowns, but guess what…I bought one! I’m confident he’ll like it on our wedding day. I’m sure the same will be true for you!
FI hasn’t seen my dress on me, but he’s seen a picture of me in another dress. I was having dress regret and figured if I showed him a picture of the dress I was regretting not buying, then I couldn’t ever change my mind. We are both intent on keeping the “first look” tradition, so it worked! But he hasn’t seen the dress I bought.

Yup, happened to me yesturday lol!
I got a new camera and FI was helping me change settings on it. I had my old memory card in there and I have pictures of me in the dress. Well As he was looking through the pics…. YUP you guessed it he saw me in the dress! I was upset at first and I think he felt bad seeing it. I got over it though and I think he loved it 🙂 He grabbed me and kissed me lol so I suppose its not always a bad thing maybe he’s even more excited now to see it in person 😛 Afterall, I helped him choose him suit for the wedding and I’m still so excited to see him all dressed up on our wedding day so I guess it can work both ways 🙂

Haha, my FI has glimpsed pictures on my laptop or phone a number of times. Plus, every time I show a pictures it to a family member, they’re like, “Oh, I love the lace!” or “Oh, I love strapless on you!” so he’s basically heard every single detail from his family, lol.
I’m not too worried. He went to a wedding without me this weekend, and when I asked him what the bride was wearing, he was able to come up with: “Um, a white dress? And it was strapless? Sort of flowy? And she had like some white netting covering the back of her head?” Lol!

He has definitely seen it, since we picked it out together. I think he actually cares a lot more about the dress/wedding visuals than I do, so it was a good solution for us.
He’s also definitely not the kind of guy who says “oh, it’s white” either. He has learned all of the dress words and was pretty proud that he could describe his cousin’s wedding dress after the fact.

I accidentally e-mailed photos of my dress to FI, with the subject line “WEDDING DRESS” … I was transferring the images from my work computer to home without a USB, aka via e-mail. He called me immediately and went “Uhhh, did you mean to send me an e-mail called ‘WEDDING DRESS?'” I was like OMG NO DELETE. Out of all the e-mails I sent, and that one accidentally went to him.
