Now that I’m pregnant with baby #2, SO and I have decided that he’s going to get a vasectomy (after baby is born, just in case) because we dont want anymore kids. Curious if anyone else has a SO who had been through it? How was it? Did your insurance cover it?

DH had one before we met. (He has 2 kids, I have 1). He said it wasn’t too bad. He got a little lightheaded during, but said in about a day & 1/2 he was fine. Got it done on Friday & was back to work on Monday. Not sure about the insurance though.

@Ninteenthchance: FI had one a few years ago, just after his son was born (he never wanted children to begin with , so once his son was born that was it). His insurance covered it, the only concern was his age, because he was only about 22 when he had the procedure done. The surgery was fine though- he had no pain during the recovery, only had a brief pang of pain at the start of the surgery because the anaesthetic didn’t kick in right away.

@Papillion: Luckily my SO is already 30 so I don’t think age is going to be a problem!

My husband and i have two girls together. im 26 and he is 38. We both don’t want anymore children. it’s too hard for us. he’s getting a vasectomy on Thursday. The doc said that if we decided to get pregnant …they could just harvest sperm and put it in me. not ivf…cuz im able to get prefers. but im sure we don’t want anymore kids…i don’t want to start over in my 30s…i already dedicated my entire 20s raising our kids. my 30s r gonna be for myself…going back to school and stuff like that.
