i usually sleep cuddled up to Fiance, with his arm as my pillow. yesterday morning a little before our alarms were set to go off, i was awakend with a smash… he had been having a bad dream and i guess when i slightly moved it got incorporated into his dream as something crawling on him and *wham* he essentially punched me in the face. i wasnt really that upset because he couldnt help it, but he was so upset with himself he was nearly in tears.
i got over it pretty quickly except it gave me a noticable bruise that i have to cover up for a few days…
we have a king size bed and last night he insisted we sleep on the extreme ends so that he didnt hurt me again.

He has never hit me, but as a child I punched my sister in my sleep. I’ve also rolled over, and my arm flung over and hit my husband in the face.

Haha Yes. My Fiance actually gave me two black eyes in his sleep once. He was having a nightmare, flailed his arm, and his hand came down and hit me right in the nose. My nose didn’t break or anything, but it woke me up and I was in tears. He felt TERRIBLE.
There was another time that he was sleeping on his stomach and suddenly woke up while trying to push himself up on the bed. His hand was on the center of my chest and he pushed the air out of me causing me to make an odd “OOOOMPFFF” noise. We laughed about that one until we fell back to sleep.
It doesn’t happen often, but it makes cuddling a little scary immediately following! I don’t have much room to talk though- I can’t even count how many times I’ve woken him up from talking or laughing in my sleep. 😛

My husband never hit me, but in a middle school sleep over with my best friend she straight up ATTACKED me. It was crazy! I’m a sleep talker / walker so I know stuff can happen that you have no control over…. but it was still intense.

Just one time I can remember on accident.. I think I was going up to snuggle right as he was turning over >_

He got me in the eye one night while he was wearing a really heavy watch. I actually woke up swinging like a prizefighter thinking I was being attacked!

He has only bonked me with his elbow a few times, so nothing too terrible…
you know how dogs dream and they kick their legs like they’re chasing bunnies? Well, I was taking a nap one day after a long run and I let my big Great Dane snuggle up with me (he’s soooo cuddly!) well he started dreaming and KIDNEY PUNCHED ME WITH HIS BIG ASS PAW! I had a bruise on my back for 3 days! Ugh, I’ll take a MrDane elbow to the head over that ANY DAY!

He’s bonked me with an elbow or two.

He’s never hit me in his sleep. On the other hand, i am guilty of having hit him in my sleep. Same idea as yours–I was dreaming that I was being attacked and his movement in real life got incorporated into my dream so I started smacking him away from me. We both woke up very confused! It’s only happened once though so it’s probably more of a rare-freak occurring thing. I wouldn’t fear sleeping close to your Fiance over it.

He elbowed me in the nose once in his sleep. Didn’t even bruise though, so it didn’t hurt too bad. I’ve actually done the same to him too, and I’ve scratched him with my ring too. Oops.

Darling Husband whacks into me all the time. He even does it when he’s awake — he’ll come over to cuddle me and end up clipping me with his elbow or kicking me in the shin or something. I’m constantly accusing him of “injuring” me (though he’s never left a mark). Clumsy oaf!

Hasn’t happened to me, but my sister frequently hits her husband in her sleep. She sleep walks a lot. She once broke her tailbone running in her sleep because she dreamt a spider was following her.

Haha yes! It’s happened twice. One time he was dreaming he was rescuing our parrot from our dog and he back-handed me on the shoulder. The other time he was dreaming he was doing martial arts and kicked me in the leg. He didn’t know it both times. I woke him up and told him! Haha. There will be no co-sleeping when we have a child!

This has never happened to me.

I voted for “once or twice” but it’s more than that, just not “all the time” so….yeah. LOL! DH moves around a lot in his sleep, (and then he wonders why the cat wants to snuggle with ME and not him!). He has kicked me, (not hard) a few times, and elbowed me in the face or shoulders while moving around, (he’s never had a bad dream and slapped me, though). Sometimes he’ll also position himself so his elbow is jabbing me, and I’ll just push it out of the way and go back to sleep…he doesn’t even usually wake up! To my knowledge, I’ve never done anything like that to him, but he never remembers anything that happens while he’s asleep, so if I have, he probably wouldn’t remember to tell me about it!
Hahaha…I have a distant relative who bit his wife while he was sleeping. He was a farmer, and dreamt one of the pigs was attacking him, so apparently he decided to bite the pig back. He bit his wife hard enough on her back to draw blood, and it took her a minute or two to wake him up, (pretty sure alcohol was also involved). As long as Darling Husband doesn’t do something like that, I’m happy.
