Early in our relationship, DH used to turning off all the lights and jump out to scare me as soon as I walk in the room and turned on the lights. He stopped doing it after the second or third time when I punched him in the throat thinking he was an attacker. I don’t know what goes on in men’s heads thinking it would be funny to jump out at a woman in the dark. My brother used to do this too as a kid.

he also found it hilarious, after i was treating the dog for ticks and fleas to tell me there was a tick on my neck. when i freaked out he found it the funniest thing ever. me, not so much haha

We scare each other all the time! Hehe 🙂 We don’t mind so much. It all began because we accidentally startled each other frequently when we were first moved in to our place. It’s a two story town-home, and if you have the AC on or perhaps one of the bathroom fans, you can’t hear *anything* upstairs/downstairs.

Now we do it ’cause it’s fun 😉 And by accident sometimes still, too!

Our method of “scaring” each other is really a much more thought out and deliberate process…one year I pretended to commit suicide, which was pretty convincing…he made me believe that he had cancer this one time with well placed lab results…I made him think his car was stolen…you get the idea…we’re so much more sophisticated than just turning the lights out and jumping out at each other….we leave those school yard antics to the JV players…you wanna get scared, honest to god, trembling in horror, holy crap, what are we gonna do scared…you come to our house.

We joined forces once to scare the hell outta the kids…they thought that they had released a  demon because they played with my 112 year old Ouija board…….it was amazing…having a crawlspace and some fishing line is really what clinched that one…

He hasn’t played one willingly on me… but one of his friends got him really good and got me as well because of how freaked out my fiancé was.

A few years ago when we were all in university, one of his friends worked for an internet company and set up a fake email address for the Canadian broadcasting whatever it is, and sent him a super legal sounding email saying his IP had been traced downloading movies illegally and he was going to be fined and have to go to court etc. This was a few weeks before April Fools because I guess his buddy was too excited for his prank and couldn’t wait, so anyway we believed it and didn’t even consider it was a prank, so I was literally googling lawyers and what could happen and we were so soooooooo scared for about a day before this guy admitted his prank.

Best prank ever, we still talk about it to this day.

we play “NINJA”…  both of us hide from the other and wait to jump out(sometimes for a good 30mins).  the best one was when Fi was waiting for me behind the living room door, i knew he was there so i pulled the door forward and yelled “NINJA!!!”, he screamed like a girl! lol….   when we lived in a flat, i followed him quietly downstairs and hid. he came back into the building and i followed him and i didn’t jump out until he was at our front door! lol    …. keeps us young and lively!!! 😉

@Serey:  Well..it’s totally scary when it’s happening, and then the prank is over, and your like…I don’t know…almost laughing at whatever it was that had you so scared in the first place….I know it sounds mean, but honestly?  It’s kind of liberating.

Like, you worry and fret over this thing happening, “What would I do if?” you ask yourself…well you JUST found out….and while we might be laughing at you…you kind of learned something about yourself there, didn’t you?
