Sorry I can't help, but I'd love to hear your experience on it. I've thought about implanon, but I'm not too sure.
I haven't tried implanon (I hear they numb the area first though?), but I have gotten Gardasil. It's like every other shot when you get it. A little pinch and you can feel the injection going in. My arm was sore at the injection site for a week or so after, but it's not bad at all. Good luck!
@Jacqi- In my opinion there is. You never know for 100% certain who your SO has been with/will be with. You never know if you will become widowed and find another man in your future who again, you won't know who they have been with. Most of the time men show ZERO symptoms. And also, while it's an awful, awful thought, if you were ever raped, you just don't know.
My mom had HPV. She was married to my dad for 11 years before they got a divorce when she found out he was cheating on her. She did not suspect it AT ALL and it was a huge blow to her. A couple years later they found precancerous cells caused by HPV. There is no telling for sure that it was from my dad since she had since entered another serious relationship, but, it still stands that you just never ever know, no matter how much you trust your SO.
I haven't had either done but whenever I get a shot, I don't look at the needle, look the other way and breathe slowly!
Ok, it wasn't that bad at all! I really really hate needles, so I was getting all worked up about nothing. I thought the gardasil was a little more painful than some shots, I could feel the liquid more than certain ones I've had before.
Then they did numb my arm for the implanon which I didn't know they were going to do. So when she said she was done, I said "really? that's it?" Arms a little sore now but everything is okay.
Also tip, don't watch videos of the insertion on youtube or you'll scare yourself! :)
Yeah, don't watch videos of things like that! I'm glad it wasn't as bad as you thought it would be!
gardasil hurt for me... but i think it's just like any other shot you get... sore a bit after... but heals pretty fast
Also, on the gardasil...even though I know that my SO and I are each other's first/only partner, I figure since my insurance fully covered it and I was at the doctor anyway, I might as well just get it done. I guess better safe than sorry!
Gardasil did not hurt too much when I got it and I hate getting shots (which is strange because I have mutlple piercings that didn't hurt a bit). The best advice is to stay as relaxed as (relatively) possible when getting a shot - it hurts less that way.

Ok so I hate getting shots, I hate needles. Can anyone tell me what to expect with this? How bad is the pain for the gardasil shot and the implanon insertion? I've heard that the gardasil shot stings pretty bad.
