@Shannanicorn:  What about adding thicker straps to it? A good seamstress can make the straps look as if they were meant to be on the dress even if they weren’t.

I agree — a good seamstress can work wonders! I’d definitely talk to one before you stress too much. 🙂 I’m sure you are going to be beautiful!

Definitely add straps to it and get the length taken up. It’s a lovely dress that just needs making perfect for you.

Could you get one of those sheer boleros that sort of tuck under the dress like an undershirt? Those can be so pretty! Also, can the dress be shortened to tea length by a seamstress?

I’m 5’2″ and all the dresses that I’ve tried on are strapless.  I HAVE to have straps of some sort, otherwise I look like a football player!

@Shannanicorn:  Often when a bolero doesn’t seem to do what we want it to do, it’s because it is either too tight or the sleeves end right at the widest part of our upper arm, which only widens them more.

Find something that is less form fitting, and is elbow length.

@Shannanicorn:  This is a Canadian site that has stretch lace boleros. One of the Bees posted  this site- sorry can’t remember her name.

ETA found her- it’s OldMrsMcDonald

she talks about sizing in this post

I agree with adding straps and shortening the hem! I think it’s a great dress. And I’m sure you look great in it. We’re all our own harshest critic. What do your friends and family say about the dress?
