I was wondering if you guys would be brave enough to post pictures of you what you think is an ugly (i.e. not flattering, horrible color, bad combinations, etc.) bridesmaid dress that you or someone you know was forced to wear. and why?
I know I have been through it. Twice.

I have but I don’t have a picture of it unfortunately. I looked like an Italian granmother at a funeral. It was tragic.

YES! I was a junior bridesmaid in my cousin’s wedding in the 90s and we wore these awful black and white dresses. They were empire waist. The white top was short sleeved and square-necked and the floor-length straight skirt was black. There was white lace around the part where the black and white met and a big ole bow in the back. The whole thing was very boxy.
Sadly, I have no pics to immortalize this fabulous dress.

I’d hate to say they were hideous, I guess they were alright. Definitely not my favorite though!

baby pink satin.. not my favorite either!

@Melissabegins: yeah with white trim (I cut it off a little on the bottom)! I think that was the worst part.

Oh God yes – champagne high-neck halter column dresses with a peplum courtesy of David’s Bridal. Seriously.

I wouldn’t say HIDEOUS, per se, but definitely cheap and generic.
It’s hard to find something really beautiful that is also unique.

i can’t. if the bride ever found me out i’d be dead. let’s just say…when picking dresses for your ladies, take their features into consideration! No one wants to feel like an amorphous blob at a wedding!

It was okay – just not super flattering on me. Because it had a waist line that was higher than my actual waist, it made me look fat. 🙁

I wore a JCrew sundress for one that I wasn’t a huge fan of. The dress itself wasn’t bad and looked really cute on the other girls (standard yellow sundress), but I’m a bit bigger than the other BMs (Not actually big – just a size 10 or 12 versus 2-4 for all the others) and I thought it gave me very little shape.
But I guess all things considered …. still not so bad!

Ooh I had a bad one…
My uncles 2nd wife picked these AWFUl dresses out… the color was called “Royaple”…
yes that would be a cross between Royal Blue and Purple.
Every single bridesmaid (except the Maid/Matron of Honor who was her sister) had to take the top of the dress to a tailor to literally take apart and sew back together to make it fit. In the end, all of our tops hung really oddly over the long skirt and the tops (it was 2 pieces) had like a wierd bubble hem to them, putting extra material right on our hips and stomachs. Thanks.

Yes!! Twice!! Very poorly made with cheap fabric, but on top of that one was light neon green (SUPER unflattering) and the other was a washed out light pink and managed to make me look pregnant (I weigh 100 lbs). Seriously, both times I brought these dresses to my tailor she barely speaks english but was laughing hysterically at these ugly dresses!
