I need some major help because I think I’m having wedding planning overload and I may not be thinking straight. I am considering doing bridesmaids with skirts and tops instead of a traditional dress. I was originally going to go with a satin tea length dress for my BMs, however, I realized this is going to be an outdoor evening wedding ceremony and reception under a pavilion in Florida. Did I mention that it’s going to be at the end of June? Yes, hotness extreme. We are also trying to make this a nice casual, summer wedding, nothing really formal. I don’t want the groomsmen to wear suits or tuxes, so if I’m dressing the groomsmen down to let’s say a nice button up and beige linen pants then I might want to dress down the bridesmaids to something more comfortable also.
See examples below. I saw these pics and they were too cute to ignore. My favorite is the last one, especially since my colors are going to be similar.
So what do you think, am I nuts for thinking about doing this instead?

I haven’t seen this before, but I actually think it’s a really cute idea! I say go for it!

I do whatever you feel like! The pics you posted are all adorable!

I don’t see why not. If it fits with the aesthetic and formality of your wedding, go for it 🙂 I’m sure your girls will be happy to have separates that they can rewear to work etc.

I’ve never seen it! It could be cute! Go for it if you like it!

I think they are cute, but I think I still prefer a dress. There are many cute lighter dresses out there. I would ask your girls what they want though, and if you love it and they are happy with it, then go for it.

While I like the look of a skirt and top, I am more comfortable in a sundress in extreme heat. Maybe you could find a dress in a different material than satin?

I was in a wedding before where I had a skirt and a strapless/corset type top. I loved it and was much more comfortable in the 2 pieces then I was in other BM’s dresses.

I love the pics of the skirts & tops – I say go for it!

I love the idea! And your maids will definitely be able to wear a cute skirt again.

Personally I would rather wear a light dress than two seperate pieces as I find it way more comfortable. I wore two seperate pieces in an August wedding and we were all miserable as the skirt kept riding up and the shirt kept getting untucked and we were fussing with it all night and we ended up being so sweaty. If you could find a light flowy dress then I think that might be a better option (just my opinion)

That is actually really adorable! I’ve never seen it before. If you think it suits your wedding I say go for it!

Cute but would definitely be warmer than a dress- because the blouse has to be tucked in= no air flow.

I say go for it! It will probably be cheaper and re-wearable for your maids!
