iwear Bass loafers, just like my mom wore when I was growing up. They are so preppy cool that they can never go out of style. I got mine at DSW so they weren’t expensive. But they are worth an investment because it takes years to beat these things up. I love them.

My 12 yr. old son made me buy him a pair of Sperrys (boat shoes) for school, and he says they’re still very popular even though they’re not my personal style.  When I was his age we wore Bass penny loafers and Eastside shoes.

I don’t think so.  Toms make some awesome “loafers.”  And then there’s boat shoes by Sperry, which I saw a ton of this past Summer.  I’ve been wearing some vintage oxfords–how about that?

I wear tons of ballet flats – would they work for you or are you looking for something more casual than that?

Oh, just remembered that Clarks has a lot of cute wintery type shoes (they sell this line on QVC, too), so maybe go check them out.

Have you check Land’s End?  I’ve seen some cute shoes there over the past couple years…

@ddw:  I was just going to recommend the cord Toms!  I just remembered, moccasins are pretty popular too.  And I found these at JCrew:
