Wow…. I would be livid!  Even if he was a “friendor”, 1 year is not an acceptable time-frame for your video.  I would for sure call him and even show up at his house if you have to.

Good Luck! I hope you get your video soon, and I hope he did an amazing job on it!

I would be so pissed. And yes you should call him!!! Call him until he answers.. A year is an absolutely absurd amount of time… He should need to longer than two months and thats pushing it!!! I hope everything works out for you and you get your video and its amazing and you love it!!

OK, I work for a company that does photography, video and DJing (as a photographer), and also do “Friedor-ing” myself on the side for couples who are referred to me by friends that can’t afford our big companies rate. I have to admit that the discount rate projects get back burnered some of the time.. but a YEAR is so completely unacceptable that I can’t beleive it. Aside from that his lack of response to your emails and calls is insane. It doesn’t take a business expert to provide basic customer service to paying clients. Do you have a contract with this person? If you do, at this point I would start to (as drastic as this seems) threaten legal action. Maybe an email that says something gentle but firm like “I’m starting to grow exeedingly imaptient with your lack of communication. Please get back to me asap to let me know that I won’t need to seek the assistance of a third party to resolve this issue.” Your vendor has crossed a line by actively avoiding contact with you. Don’t feel badly about being frank with him, and threatening something you probably have no intention of actually doing to light a fire under his ass.

It seems like unless he admits fault on having lost or damaged the footage (which I’m sure he never would) he only owes you back what you paid. He really worded the contract in such a way where he holds little liability to face any real consequences other than a refund should he choose to be completely negligent. Well, it’s his reputation on the line, and I suggest you warn other brides in your area against employing this mans services to protect them from having the same thing happen. It seems at this point like you should be demanding either a full refund, your FULLY EDITED FOOTAGE (don’t let him try to pass you the original footage. You paid to have it edited!), or begining the process of taking legal action. If you offer him these three options I feel like he’ll likely get back in touch. Just remind him that you have a contract! Don’t feel silly about getting emotional concerning your wedding video footage. It’s something you PAID MONEY for to remeber your wedding day!! You have every right to get upset! This sounds catty, but I honestly hope the idea of being taken to court upsets him as much as he’s upset you.
