I think the communities views should be taken into account regarding hostess/mods as well.

I applied on my old username.  I never heard anything back except that they had a ton of applications.

I've never applied, but the extra hands around here couldn't hurt.

Lots of people come to mind when I think of people who should be hostess' and mods. Katyelle, Caitmarae, MissPumpkinPie, Zippylef are examples.

I also think that if there were more mods that were CURRENTLY in the process of planning their weddings that we would have mods that spent more time on the site and were around more when things are going down.

There are plenty of ladies (and gents) who are here all day, most days as you can tell by when they're posting. If not having enough mods who are around as often is a problem, I think these ladies who are obviously here A LOT should be considered or approached to become mods.

As I mentioned in another thread, I think KatyElle would make a good hostess.

I applied months ago and was told that they weren't accepting any new applications at the time but to check back later. After today, it's clear that more hostesses are needed. I just sent in my application a few minutes ago.

Just out of curiosuity, do yall base your opinion on frequency of there posting or should they be chosen based on content?

Do you think hostesses and mods should be neutral when it comes to conversations, I know many off the Bees are highly opinonated and aren't afraid to share what they think

@Eva Peron: My personal opinion is that you should be respectful regardless. You can be opinioned without trashing someone else.

@Eva Peron: As far as I know, hostesses are chosen on content of their posts. If you read the wiki on how they are selected it says:

    • Has a minimum of two months of active membership on Weddingbee
    • Has made at least 200 posts ("Helper Bee" status)
    • Shows incredible creativity, style, and grace
    • Has a reputation for being a source of inspiration and advice in our community
    • Writes friendly, helpful, and insightful posts and replies
    • Has great taste and style

I also think that people who have had warnings for behavior probably shouldn't be considered, personally.

I realized I didn't even give my opinion on Mrs Argentina's post. lol. I think it needs to be about content. Just because someone is well-liked doesn't mean they are the best choice.

@MissPumpkinPie: No harm in trying. The first question of the application asks what your username is. You can always just make a note there.

@Eva Peron: I think both frequency of posts and content should be considered. I guess frequency of posts shouldn't be the main choosing point though.

I, for example, am here all the time, currently unemployed, really only spend time on 3 websites.. not much of a social life. Yet I only have a handful of posts when compared to some other people. So post count doesn't really determine how often a person is around or if they are level headed and respectful.

Nah I disagree. Everyone slips up sometimes, you just shouldn't be making a habit of it.

@zippylef: Yes, I have read that! My question was directed at the women who were randomly nominating people, so I was getting an idea for what their criterion were as opossed to what has alreay been provided in the wiki.

What does having "great taste and style" have to do with being a moderator?

@zippylef: I disagree as well. I've been warned twice, if I recall, but both times it was because I was standing up for myself and other plus size women in weight related threads (no, not the most current). If that disqualifies me from being a hostess then so be it but I don't regret the things that I said in my own defense.

@Eva Peron: She has a point though. Most mods are hostesses. In fact it was pointed out to apply as a hostess in another thread.

@Storm0075: Yup, to become a mod you first need to be a hostess. But you you find a lot more avatars with " hostess" on them. And many that are inactive. I thought our mod team was relatively small, but I could be wrong

@Eva Peron: This is where I think someone needs to tell us the determining factors for a Hostess to become a Mod because all we have been told is that it is a voluntary position and the Mods are chosen from the current Hostesses. So how do they pick!?

We obviously need more mods yet people are being told that they have a lot of hostess applications and/or are not currently taking applications.. so if they have so many people volunteering, why is having enough people who are around at different times of day an issue?
