I’ve been to 2, haven’t booked vendors at either but am going to another this weekend lol I went more to just get ideas and information from people, but they do send emails with pretty good deals to everyone that registers after the show. I prefer to research a lot and am not one to just meet someone and book. There’s no harm in checking it out for a bit, you may find something/someone you’re interested in if you don’t have everything booked yet. The only things I have left are dj and florist so I’m going to talk to a few of them when I go this weekend. Just have a plan, know what you need/don’t need, take checks in case you do book but don’t be lured into deals if you haven’t researched yet. Good luck!

It was overwhelming, like a giant room full of those vendors at the mall that yell at you and ask if you are happy with your phone plan.

But, on thr other side I would have never found my dress salon if I had not gone.

@kmb727:  I found that the bridal shows we went to were a waste of time overall. You can get discounts (sometimes) but I didn’t find any of my vendors there.

Good question! I havent been to one yet, but theres a big one coming up here in a few weeks. I have lots planned already, so I dont know if its worth it, but there are still a few things left to do. Might be worth it to pop in. Even just see all the pretty things, and they sometimes have coupons to hand out!

I got a $50  coupon off my dress at the place I ended up buying it from, so it was worth it. Plus the chocolate covered strawberries were delicious 🙂

As a bridal makeup artist, I’ve worked lots of bridal shows so when I did get engaged…I knew I wanted to go.  I didn’t book anything any of the bridal shows…although we won a free engagement shoot with the most amazing photographers and ended up booking them for the wedding.  It is a good way to meet a lot of vendors to compare styles..and try to figure out what you like and don’t like.  I’m actually going to another bridal show this weekend…its just a fun/easy day out..and I will take as many different ideas for wedding stuff as i can get since I’m not a very creative person lol

It basically gave me an anxiety attack and I am STILL getting calls from people (show was in Jan and wedding is in Oct!). I didn’t find it helpful but if you are in the very beginning stages *maybe* you can find a deal..strong emphasis on maybe.

If you do end up going the best advice I heard (and saw successfully in action)

1.Make an e-mail address just for wedding stuff otherwise your inbox is going to be clogged for awhile

    2. Make a sheet or two of address labels with your name, address, email, and telelphone number (saves so much time!)

I liked them for some of the food and cake samples.  You get to try some of the caterers all in one place.  It’s also not bad for getting ideas and if you get lucky you can win some pretty great things.  They usually also do discounts.  I got $150 off my wedding dress by going to a show.  Most vendors do a special if you book with them soon.

I’d say it’s worth it to go to one.

@kmb727:  I know a girl who won a trip to Mexico at a bridal show! So it definitely does happen to “real” people haha

It was fun, we got free cake and lots of those free photo booth pictures with my bridesmaids.

Open a different email account for the bridal stuff though, I still haven’t stopped getting the emails and I’ve been married almost 2 months now.

I went and it was good and bad.  I did get some leads for certain vendors but overall it was not worth it. I went to two.  They were busy, chaotic and cramped.  I also don’t like the “being sold” to mentality of it. I know it’s the vendors jobs to sell themselves but it was just too much all at once.  I did get some free offers/discounts but I didn’t end up using any of them so they weren’t really worth it.  I did find my DJ at the first one I went to though.  I would have preferred it more if they weren’t circling us brides to be like vultures 🙂  maybe if i’d gone to a more laid back show I would have enjoyed it more.

I went to several bridal shows, mostly because I thought they were fun and hey I was a bride so why not. Most of the shows were however pointless. I enjoyed my cake and getting ideas but nothing much came of it.

I did attend a bridal show at my actual wedding venue and that was very beneficial. I met several of my vendors and after getting a tour realized that I was in love with the venue itself. So that was an incredibly helpful show.
