Have any Bees purchased their wedding gown from Vows (http://www.bridepower.com)? I found out about them when I stumbled across/watched their reality show called “I Found the Gown” but I was a bit irked by their absence of customer service when I e-mailed them to inquire about one of their gowns and NO ONE ever replied. I even called and was placed on hold for so long that I eventually had to hang up the phone. Has anyone had a positive experience with this place? Their gowns are so much more afforable than bridal boutiques that I was hoping to get my gown from them.

@beekeeper: I didn’t go there but my best friend’s sister was trying to. She said they were booked out for two months when she called to make an appointment. Basically, the customer service isn’t what you’ll find at a different boutique. They’re selling old samples they buy from other wedding salons. You buy the gown as is and sometimes you need beading to be redone, seams are ripped, and the hem is a little bit haggard. But, the amount you’re saving on the gowns is more than enough for you to pay to have these things altered/fixed. I don’t know if the consultants work on commission either so maybe that’s why they’re less motivated to help? She said that you have to rummage through the dresses on the racks (they’re all in plastic so its kind of hard to see) and you’re pretty much on your own. The store is divided by size so you know which racks to be looking at. She went with a few aunts, her sisters, and her mom and they had a blast because they knew what it would be going into it. I suggest checking out their website to get a better idea of what the process is like and call ASAP so you can schedule an appointment! =)

I bought my reception dress there, long before they had a TV show. In person, service was solid (not akin to what you get at a nice wedding salon). They don’t pick dresses for you, but they will ferry them into the dressing room and help you get dressed.
I bet that TV show has them swamped. I lived one town over from them and no one even know about them then.

@beekeeper: I always heard fabulous things. But that was before the tv show. Things might have changed with their new-found popularity.

@beekeeper: I did, and I had a great experience. I made an appointment online and got one within a week (which was good b/c I was having surgery right after that) since I was able to go on a weeknight.
They were super nice and I love my dress. I tried on a bunch – about six that I pulled from the racks myself and then 4 or 5 more that the consultant pulled for me once she saw which ones I liked. I ended up with one that the consultant had pulled so I was grateful that she was so helpful. The dress was in great condition except for a few loose hook and eye latches, but if you spend more than I believe $600, they spruce it up and steam it for free.
Let me know if you have any questions!

I always thought that show was really cool as someone always looking for the best prices. There is a similar kind of salon in the Chicago area, and I called several times to try to make an appointment there, thinking it would be like a VOWS experience on TV, but they were so rude to me on the phone I never even showed up. At a different place, a consultant tried to sell me a sample that was in such bad shape (holes everywhere), and that put a bad taste in my about samples, even though I know people who have found great ones. I guess with the discount you are saving comes with the service. Kind of like the stereotype of a car salesman verses a used car salesman (and like bridal consultants both can be pushy)

@mgbser: I can see that, but it was really not my experience. I did not enjoy dress shopping at the places I went to before Vows, but I felt like I was treated well there.

Another similar salon in MA is Tulle Bridals in Georgetown. They’re smaller than Vows, but also focus on selling sample gowns and have really good reviews.

I’m buying my dress from them (but through their website bridepower.com). I just ordered it yesterday and expect it to be here by next week. I’m very excited! The customer service has been wonderful, they have been calling me with updates about whats going on and answering all of my questions. Very happy with my decision. I’m definitely putting a lot of faith into them by ordering gown I’ve never seen online, but I have faith and I know this is my dream gown! (And at a dream price!)
