Since I have nothing better to do than to fantasize about how hes going to pop the question, when he’s going to propose, where, what the ring will look like, etc. I was thinking about how I really havent decided what I want my E-ring to look like. Ive done some internet searching and got some ideas BUT Im torn between two totally different types of rings. Totally different styles, different look, completely different stones! Im not sure if my SO is going to purchase a ring from the internet or purchase it from a jewelry store.
Here are the rings I am torn between. Which ever ring I pick, it will be similar to one of these
I like this ring because it has a vintage look to it and I really like that. I love the designs on the band and it has lovely detail. This ring also looks a lot like my promise ring that my SO got me, which I adore. But to me, this ring screams money and my SO and I dont have money and all our family and friends know that. We are college students for heavens sake so that tells everyone something. Everyone knows that a college student is broke! lol! If my SO was to get me a ring similar to this one (of course it would have to have some other cheaper stone in it and a cheaper type of metal too) I would feel as if people would judge. Make comments like “oh they are living beyond their means” or “they are just trying to make it look like they have money” And I dont want negative comments made towards our engagement, it would break my heart.
I like this ring because it is simple, its small and danty like my fingers and to me this ring doesnt scream money, it screams affordable. Is it sad that Im basing the ring on the way people view us, financially? I feel like this ring would suit me better because its not some over the top money screaming ring, even though I like the over the top money screaming look. I feel as if we have not established the financially stability in other peoples eyes for me to wear a ring like that. I know my SO can afford both rings, if we choose the type of stone and metal to make it affordable. Which I dont really care what type of stone or metal it is, I just dont want people to judge us because of the ring. Im probably putting way too much thought into this lol
And I know a lot of people will say “who cares if people judge you” and thats true. I shouldnt care but I do. I am the type of person that takes things to heart.
So do you guys have rings that your torn between?

I would LOVE something like this *swoon*
Both of your ring choices are beautiful!! I like the side view of the first one, but definitely the simplicity of the second one! And what I’ve found is that people are going to judge EITHER way, simple ring or not. So, try not to think about it too much 🙂

@Mine29: i like the three-stone better, but i’m biased because i’m not a big fan of emerald-cut diamonds.

GORGEOUS Rings !!
My BEST Advice as a 2x Married Bee…
@Mine29: DON’T LEAVE THIS UP TO CHANCE… Go out and try rings on.
Just like not all Jeans, Dresses, Tops you see on the Internet is going to Fit / Look Good on EVERY BODY… Rings are the same way.
What you see now in a Picture you could seriously DISLIKE on your hand.
In so much as everyone’s hands are different, BIG – small – Long – short – STUBBY
If you don’t go try things on you run the risk of NOT Loving The Ring at some point
And that sucks… cause it is a HUGE Expense, not usually returnable… and can hurt people’s feelings… just look around WBee there are posts from Guys who have found out their women weren’t crazy for the ring they picked out. (Remember many a man is awful at picking Gifts let alone Jewellery for their Beloved)
SO GET IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME
Go try stuff on…
Talk about the process of Getting Engaged… When you work as a team it truly can be such an AMAZING experience !!

@Mine29: I’m not going to know what my ering will look like, SO will surprise me.
I was trying to use the law of attraction by trying to find my favorite ering and keeping it on my phone…and then I couldn’t decide between a 3 stone colored gem, or a solitare colored gem, or a oval, or a marqee…LOL!! I have a LOT of rings I’d be happy with…anything but a heart shaped diamond really!!
At this point, I really want something that is not ‘princess cut with halo’ because it’s what everyone else has I feel like. And by that I mean everyone else I actually know and interact with. UGH!!
Love your rings though, they are pretty!!

Yes!! We looked at and I tried on a bunch of different rings, he had what he liked and I had what I liked but we finally both agreed on a setting last week. I was having anxiety because I want to love it and I didn’t love the one he picked so I am so happy and really excited about it. Now it makes waiting harder because I don’t think he is going to propose until the spring!
I’m no help on yours because I LOVE both styles you picked. I was similar where I had 2 styles i showed him but he liked this so that’s why it worked, I like that he kinda made the decision but based on knowing what I liked

@wanabeabee: That is a gorgeous ring!
My SO bought me rose gold earrings with a chocolate gemstone. I love them. I wish I could wear them more often but my ears start hurting if I wear earrings for a long time period.

@Mine29: UGGG I have the SAME problem with earrings! I only wear them for special occations and told my SO a long time ago dont bother buying them if your going to be dissaponted that I dont wear them!
But I love rose gold! and it does better with my skin I have ever found evidence of it but i swear its because it has less nickle!

Ring porn? Please and thank you I never imagined how excited I would be to see other people’s rings and think about this until I actually went and looked at rings recently. I’m quite embarrassed by this, actually. Anyway, here is one of the rings I tried on that I loved a lot. Sapphires have an emotional meaning behind them due to the significance of september in both our lives.
