I tend to have a ton of fun at weddings, despite how different they all have been and no matter what my role (MOH, bridesmaid, solo attendee, attendee with a plus one, being the plus one)… I have another one this weekend and I can’t wait.
But, I was speaking with someone today about going to a wedding she couldn’t wait to leave.
Has this ever happened to you? What were some of the things that caused you to feel that way? Were there some things you still liked in those weddings? When did things take a turn for the worst?

yes. the food was terrible, bride and groom didnt take time to talk to anyone and were late to the reception, and i’m pretty sure hubby and i left early because we were bored.
Oh wait, bored and he got really drunk. LOL

I just went to a wedding this past weekend & didn’t have the greatest time. Very limited food selections, and the music stunkkk. Now, the bride and groom are 10 years older than me, but i still would have expected to hear more dancing songs. The only dancing i did was line dancing.

It was still fun because it was my cousin’s, and I love all my extended family. But still.

Cash bar. Cold Buffet. Bad DJ. No decor.

I went to a very large wedding (over 300) people, and there was a receiving line… with the bride and groom, both sets of parents, and the bridal party. It took forever to get through. The line of guests snaked out of the reception area into the bar. Since I was going to wait in the line, I asked for a vodka cranberry. Because the reception had techinically started, they closed the bar. So I stood in line for at least an hour waiting to say hello to a bunch of strangers. Also, at the end of the line, her maid of honour handed out the favours. It was really awkward.
Also, all of the music was Greek. All of it. So my husband and I left early.

The food was cold, the DJ was horrid about picking music, no one danced, it was just really boring.

Dry wedding, blah food, no music. BORING.
Still the only dry wedding I’ve ever been too…not for me! I didn’t even drink at my own wedding but the atmosphere is just more fun when people can have a drink and relax.
Only other bad one in my memory was a cash bar, BAD food (think like wonderbread sandwiches + bologna), and it took forever for music/dancing to start. So long I really thought they weren’t having any at all. We were getting ready to leave by the time it started.

i’ve been to some that were just plain terrible – not enough food, disorganized buffets, bridezillas, some have been egh, it’s okay. I can only think of 2 that were a total blast

There were no issues with the wedding, but this August I was at a GREAT wedding but it was FREEZING cold outside. My toes felt like they were going to fall off and I could not even get a buzz from drinking, I swear I was shivering it away. It was outside in a tent and there weren’t any fires or heaters. I don’t blame them for having nothing, it was August, it was unseasonably freezing.
I really wanted to stay all night, celebrate and party, but I had to leave because I was basically turning blue.

When there is a huge gap between the ceremony and reception, I get bored and just want to go home.

The worst I went to was a shotgun wedding where it was obvious that the bride’s family was pissed at the groom and not very happy about the wedding in general. The groom and his GMs proceeded to get ridiculously drunk after the ceremony and the FOB got more and more angry with him. I couldn’t wait to et out of there.

I think I can honestly say that I have, on some level, enjoyed every wedding I have been to. The only one that was probably my least favorite was one that was outdoor, in June, in south Alabama with stifling heat and we were seated in direct sunshine. I was sweating so much that I had to run home between the ceremony and reception to redo my hair/makeup and cool off because I looked like a melted rat.

I was a bridesmaid in a wedding where the bride’s one sister got into two fights and her nieces and nephews were behaving horribly. The sister was dancing a little too friendly with the best man and his girlfriend didn’t like it and they got into it. Sometime after I left I heard the same sister punched the grooms aunt.

Large gap, cash bar, bunch of 10 year old girls overtaking the dance floor like a jr high dance, no good dancing songs. We left by 9.
