Have you ever had a zit that left a "dent"?

Give it a few weeks.  Your skin can take some time to recover from that sort of thing.  While acne can scar (and occasionally does, whether you pop your zits or not), you won’t know if it’s a permanent thing until everything has completely healed and your skin has had time to regenerate.  It has sometimes taken me 4 or 5 weeks for a spot or pockmark to completely disappear.

@Birdiebaby4:  It sounds like some sort of cystic acne and I’m so sorry for you! That’s the only kind I get and it’s AWFUL. I find a gentle cleanser and alternating a zit cream and neosporine help it go down faster than normal.

@Birdiebaby4:  If its really not going away, it could be a staph infection. Staph can resemble acne or a bug bite. Its worth seeing a derm, in my opinion.

On the other hand, I almost always get what they call “postinflammatory hyperpigmentation”, which is a condition where your skin remains dark/slightly red, even once the raised acne itself is gone. It takes awhile for those marks to go away for me.

Ugh, I have a handful of icepick scars on my cheeks from cystic acne.  It’s terrible. 🙁 But I’m not unhappy enough to get my face lasered though, especially since my skin is so sensitive, so I just ignore them!  Incidentally, there’s only one product on the market that I can find that treats cystic acne – Mario Badescu’s Buffering Lotion.  It helps, but I wouldn’t say it’s a miracle product.  It could be worth a try if you get them regularly, though!

@Birdiebaby4:  I get mine mostly on my chin (hormonal). Not ever BC has been able to regulate it so I’m on some creams, gels, and oral antibiotics for the wedding, haha. Such a hassel but I am noticing a huge difference in my acne and rosacea. If it continues to bother you see a derm though, no use suffering like I chose to for about 10 years, haha.

Ugh I feel sorry for you! Three days before our wedding I got a big one right on my chin, where I always get them. I tried to make it go away but nothing worked! Luckily it went away the night before. Hopefully it goes away for you!

@Birdiebaby4:  Do you use an exfoliant? A gentle one. That should help with the scarring. I don’t get the cystic acne like you described, but the Juice Beauty products have really helped my skin out. It’s gentle and more creamy so it doesn’t dry out my face. I love using this stuff.

I highly recommend the Exfoliating Cleanser and I usually follow it up 2-3 times a week with the Green Apple Peel (I use the sensitive one, but they have different strengths). This stuff is seriously amazing. I’ve used a few of their other serums too, the blemish clearing one has helped me. Just browse the site, the stuff there is great.

@Birdiebaby4:  I had drying initially with ProActiv, but within a few days it went away. Now (after 3 years using it) I’m really like doing maintenance. I only use the scrub in the shower and Oily of Olay combination skin foaming wash at night. I use the ProActiv toner (or whatever it’s called) once in awhile. I do still use Revitalizing Treatment twice a day. And I just randomly do the mask when I feel like it. I also use the Daily Oil Control when the humidity is up. And the Dark Spot Corrector is amazing for making old pimple marks go the hell away. I can’t use the ProActiv face lotion cause it’s way too greasy for me. I use Aveeno instead. So I only spend about $150 a year on ProActiv.
