I take my ring off A LOT, but it always goes right into my jewelry box or a ring dish. Once when I was a little intoxicated I took it off and forgot to put it in a designated place. Needless to say, when I woke up sober and saw that it wasn’t in it’s usual place or on my hand, I got VERY nervous!!! My face instantly got hot, and all I could think is that my FI is going to be so mad at me!!! Luckily it was on my dresser, but it got me wondering who has misplaced or lost (sad face) their e-ring!
For those that have lost their ring and never found it again, did you have insurance? If you didn’t, what did you do about it? Was your FI upset about it? Please share if you have a story!

I NEVER take mine off. If I did I would lose it. I lose EVERYTHING, my keys, my phone all the time. My Fiance would KILL me if I lost it so I figure the best way to keep from losing it is to make sure it never leaves my finger. So I shower with it and sleep with it and pretty much live in it so that I never have to worry about it.

I slipped on the ice while leaving work in a snowstorm in February and didn’t realize my ring had fallen off. Took a month for the snow to melt, and was coming in on morning in March and looked down at the mud and slush, and there it was! Was barely even dirty.

I lost my place-holder e-ring (a family heirloom) while cleaning our house one day. It slipped off my finger while I wwas cleaning out our fridge and I didn’ even notice. Once Idid notice, hours later, DS, Mr. LK and I went on a full house hunt to find it, backtracking through every room that I had cleaned that day until DS found it in the fridge. I always take my rings off and put them into a ring dish when Iget home now. I was so upset when Ithought I had lost it. I just can’ take that risk.

TheLadyA : i mean he wasn’t thrilled! haha, but i think the HUGE bruise i developed on my left butt cheek made him a little more sympathetic. I have insurance on it, so I called Jeweler’s Mutual right away to let them know what happened, and they told me I could submit a claim and have a new ring in a week or so, or wait until the snow melted. We decided to wait, but as the weeks went on and we kept getting more and more snow, it seemed impossible that we’d find it! Even went out with a metal detector haha. All’s well that end’s well, right?!

My one year old got her hands on my ering and wedding band that i had set on a side table long enough to go get moisturizer.
I found my ering but the band was nowhere to be found. I was so upset with myself that I was in tears.
We were on our way to visit our inlaws for the weekend so I had to wait until we got home to look again.
It ended up being under the chair cushion, but tucked under where the arm of the chair attaches to the base.
I learned my lesson!!

I take my ring off and leave them on a table entirely too often, but the longest it has been misplaced for was fifteen minutes. You can be sure I was freaking the hell out while looking for it!

TheLadyA : Yes, the day after we got engaged, it slipped off my hand as I was getting out of the subway. It was a heavy enough ring that I noticed about a block and a half away.
I got super hot in the face and started tracing my steps very slowly, scannning the sidewalk. I didn’t want to alert anyone because then it would be a race to be the first person who finds the ring.
It wasn’t insured and I found it at the top of the station stairs. The setting was kind of sratched and THANK GOD no one saw it in the 20 minutes it had been off my hand. We didn’t have insurance on it then, so FI would not have been pleased. He wasn’t with me, thank goodness.
I was so upset, I immediately put tape around the back of the ring when I got home. Now I have both insurance and a stand in ring.

I took my ring off in the bathroom at work one time to apply lotion after washing my hands. About 10 mins later, in a meeting I realized it was not on my finger. I immediately rushed out back to the restroom and there it was on the countertop by the sink! Phew! Fortunately there is no traffic on my floor and only a few ladies other than me. I never take it off in the bathroom anymore and if i apply lotion, i do it at my desk and I slip my ring off and place it on top of my cell phone so I know I will see it again in like, 10 seconds.

I lost my promise ring years ago, and replaced it with its twin without telling my fiance. Woops. I figured it would hurt his feelings more to find out I lost it.
Like a year or two later, he found the original in the floorboard of his car. It was very awkward to explain. xD

mrstattoo10816: Well now that I think about it, I don’t know exactly what would have happend since I didn’t end up filing a claim. But, I think with certain vendors they work directly with the jeweler and replace the ring as opposed to cutting a check. I could be wrong though! And no lasting injuries, just a big bruise for a while.
