Hey! Another Arizona bride! Don’t let what other people say about weddings bother you. Seriously, since becoming engaged, I always feel like I’m on the defensive about every decision I make. You are never going to please everyone, so just shrug it off, and do what’s best for you and your fiance. Everyone and their mother has an opinion about weddings, and oh boy, they are not afraid to share it. Then you come to weddingbee, and say, “look at this crazy woman!”, laugh, and move on. 🙂

Definitely figure out the big stuff first (like budget, date, venue, etc) before going to look for dresses. You don’t want to pick a dress until you have those things figured out. You’ve got a year, take your time!

Well, if you are in the Phoenix area, I would definitely suggest My Sister’s Closet in Chandler. My friend found her dress there, and took me. It was the first time I tried on a dress, and I though no way would I find anything (its a consignment shop). Totally bought my dress that day, first time! There were a ton of duds, but my dress is a sample (ie, new with tags) Nicolle Miller gown that I purchased for 10% of what it would have cost retail. It needs altering, but its a brand new designer gown! Good luck on your hunt!

You shouldn’t overthink it. I know that my level of excitement changes based on who I talk to. If I’m talking to one of my bridesmaid, we ohh and awe about everything. When I’m talking to a co-working, I talk about it in a more calm manner. She might want to have that “ooh, awe” conversation with you, but you are keeping it professional and that’s okay.
