Im literally crying. Tears running down my face. Im in a military family so it touches close to home for me too
This reminds me of this thing that was on the Today Show....I think like, last year. This military dad comes home early from Iraq and shows up at his kid's school. The kid is maybe like 4 or 5. The door opens and of course all the kids look up to see who it is. They pan to the kid and you see the split second on his face when he realizes who it is and he goes racing across the room. I'm tearing up just thinking about it....gets me every time.
Wow. I'm tearing up. Military families have it so hard. My thoughts and prayers are with all of them.
OH MY GOSH!! The tears are flowing. phhheeeew... need to take a second to pull myself together. My FI deploys a few months after the wedding. I'm so proud of him but scared out of my mind. Very touching photo! Thank you goes out to all in the military and the families that support them.
@hotchildinthecity - I still have that video bookmarked on my computer at home. I cry watching that one too. There is also another one where there is a little blonde girl who tells Santa that alls he wants for chirstmas is her daddy to come home, and he walks out. She has this look of disbelief then just goes "HI DADDY!! HI! I MISSED YOU!" and then I cried. And now Im crying again. Darn it!
@KellyV: I've seen the other one you're talking about too! I would love to link to them, but I can't access YouTube at work!
yeah, my "allergies" are acting up here at work! I didn't get to see DH off, but he said it was really sad watching all those kids who were too young to comprehend and the young 18 year old brides bawling and the veteran 4-time deployment moms just taking it in stride.
THIS kind of stuff is why I think our deployment was cake in comparison...i was always grateful I didn't have children to deal with. It would have been sooooo hard. Stuff like this always reminded me how much worse other people have it! I can't IMAGINE being pregnant while he was gone. How awful!
@hotchild, Im an idiot. I was searching CNN like crazy and coundt find it. Found it on YouTube! they dont block that, but they block Facebook. Terrible :)

No way am I waatching that at work! I'll end up being a hot mess at my desk! I'll save it for later =]
@KellyV: Ahhh, I'm going to have to find that other one now!
Ah-ha! Here it is:

@ejs - yeah, you wont be able to blame it on allergies, trust me. Wait till you get home :)
Wow. That is extremely touching and very sad. It makes my heart ache.
This is so heartbreaking... one of my best friends husband is in Iraq & they have a little girl about her age. He's coming home this month though!!
@hotchild: I'm losing my sh!t over here watching this Today Show clip.... I can't stop bawling.
OMG the little girl just made me bawl my eyes out. And I haven't even watched the little boy yet. Boyfriend is going to come home and wonder what in the WORLD is wrong with me!
Okay I just watched the little boy and... to quote RecessionistaBride, I am completely and totally losing my shit. He pushed in his chair! And... OMG. Can't stop crying.
oh poor thing,.... i dont know how familes do it! 12+ month long deployments are just wrong IMHO, its not right to spend that much time away from their family. my friends hubby just return from his latest deployment (hes a marine) and they are already talking about his next one :(
I just saw it as well! It is the cutest sad picture I've ever seen (if that makes sense). Poor little thing
aww, that's so sad. as a military brat, i was very fortunate not to have to see my dad go off to war [he served during the first gulf war] but a few of my friends have. i have a huge soft spot for the military.
@hotchild, you messed me up with that video! now i have to act like i wasn't crying. i was fine until i saw his face as he ran to his dad. and now just thinking about it is making me tear up.

This little girl didn't want to let her daddy go to war! Kinda breaks my heart...she probably doesn't *really* 100% comprehend what's going on and the mom's pregnant while he's gone. Definitely not a new story in the military community, but it's a really touching image.
Just a poignant photo I thought I'd share!
