I wrote my soon to be new last name a few times and Im trying to get a new signature down that I like but havent gotten it perfect yet! Have you tried writing your soon to be new last name? How do you like writing it or signing it?
I still haven't really perfected mine. I always feel so rushed when I'm signing things at the checkout so it never looks nice.
Yup - I felt like a sixth grade girl writing on the back cover of her spiral notebook!
I've only written once or twice and my new last name willl begin with a "B" which is much more difficult for me for some reason. I'm going to miss my pretty "S" from my maiden name,
Haha....I totally felt like a sixth grade girl writing on the back of my notebook! I actually messed around with it right after we got engaged, but it takes quite a few practices before you get it how you want it!
HA HA yeah... i was sitting in my room the other night with a note pad writting a letter to a friend and i was like "hmmm i need a new signiture" LOL i have one whole page of my soon to be new signiture LOL!!!
aww I love hearing these stories! The funny thing is that I was still trying to perfect my last name the last few yrs esp at work...im always signing for things...but now I will make my new soon to be last name perfect!
Yes and my hand doesn't understand how to keep writing. I'm going from 3 letters in my maiden name to 9 in my soon to be name! yikes!
I'm a teacher, so I have done this, alot. LOL. =)
I did it today, as a matter of fact. We were out eating lunch and he signed his debit card receipt, and said something about his signature and we got to talking about it. So, I wrote my "soon to be" new name on the extra receipt. He said it looked "just right".
Mine is horrible!!! My new last name has an apostrophe so I haven't figured out how to sign it in one motion yet...
I'm practicing! It's tricky to start with a new letter. I get all messed up!
Yeah and it hasn't gone well! My name will start with T and I just can't get the T to look good. But our last names have many of the same letters, and my current signature isn't very legible...I'm thinking that I can just keep signing my name the way I do now, and no one will be able to tell which name it says!
Everytime FI and I go out for dinner, he puts the bill on his credit card (we're all about collecting Airmiles!) After he signs the bill, he turns over the customer copy and gives me the pen to practise my new signature. Cute huh?
BTW, I think I have a new signature all set. It was pretty easy to modify my existing one.
Yes, I have been for months, and I still end up looking like a moron when I write it. Too many words... his last name has three different words! Three!
hehehe I have tried but it looks so weird. I figure it will happen when it happens lol
Yes, and I can't write it very well yet at all! I hope I get the hang of it eventually!
I have! I have a really pretty signature (I have nice handwriting) and I wanted to make sure my new name looked just as nice!
I always write our last names together when we're mailing something! I like the way it look in print and cursive :D
This is too funny! Why yes, I have as well. And I giggled like a sixth grader when I was writing it too!
Nope. I'm pretty much doing a hyphen (without ever really using the hyphen) so my last name is going from 6 letters to 16! Holy cow.
I have, and I hate it! My current signature has devolved into H[squiggle] H[squiggle] and I love it. It took years for me to perfect that illegibility. But with my new name, I feel some weird need to make it legible, and it feels completely unnatural.
I practiced a few times before the wedding but I still haven't perfected my signature! Usually I'm signing really fast and it just looks messy. Maybe I should get a notebook and some jell pens out and practice!
The note pad I keep next to the computer would tell you I most certainly have been.
I feel so funny when I practice my new signature. I feel like it looks totally wrong but I'm starting to get it. The first letter of my last name is really swirly in my signature and FI's last name is tougher to make swirly but I'm getting it.
It's been six months and I'm still barely signing the right name. I think it will take years until I've settled into a good squiggle. Part of my problem is that my new last name is only 5 letters, and just when I start to work up to a good steam I'm out of letters. And it's really weird that my name doesn't end with a "y" anymore.
I have been! Even though we have well over a year before we are married...I still like the way my new last name will look....
I have practiced signing it a little, but because I work at a magazine, I've already changed my byline to my new name for the last month. It's pretty exciting and makes me really happy! :-D
Signing it will be harder than typing tho. but fun!
I practice all the time. Usually, my current signature is the equivalent of PLizz (P being my first name, Lizz being an abbreviation of my last name). Or just PL. So I'm struggling with his last name, it's and S. I hate writing cursive S's.
I did practice ahead of time, but it still felt weird for a while.
I haven't practiced yet. I'm not a great fan of signing things so I guess I should get some practice in!
I had never practiced for some reason and then when I signed our marriage license, he swore it looked like I had been practicing lol
Yes. And it won't be mine for a while yet, haha.
Alas, my handwriting is awful, and there will hardly be a difference between my maiden name scribble and married name scribble!
I admit I've practiced..... But I'm going from 11 letters down to 4. So it actually will be nice when i'm in a hurry :)
Haha, yes! I've been writing my future new last name since we started dating back in high school.
My last name currently starts with an S which I cam VERY good at writing in cursive; however his last name starts with an H which I find to be TREMENDOUSLY AWKWARD to write in cursive. I've always taken great joy in cursive capital Ls, so my friend suggested I just convert that into an H (example below). I think it might work!!!
uh, that's what i've been doing at work for the past 9 months, duh. How many legal pads have I ripped through?? haha
