Have you started a skincare regimen for the big day?

I've gotten pretty lazy with my skincare, mostly because my skin is easy to take care of; I get a zit a few times a year and I don't wear much makeup. So sometimes I just don't feel like cleansing or whatever.

    BUT!

I want to get my skin looking great for the big day and I have started a skincare regimen including my exfoliator, cleanser, toner and biore pore strips. I'm going to use the exfolitor and the pore strips once a week and the cleanser and toner everyday.

I'm going to try really hard to keep it going!

So have you started a skincare regimen in preparation for the big day?

I went to my dermatologist to treat mild to moderate acne and it's working GREAT. I reccomend you find a dermatologist and arrange to have an emergency cortizone injection if a big one pops up a couple days before your wedding. I'm looking into birth control (Yaz) in Oct. to help my acne since I will need it anyways.

@danicalifornia: Birth control works WONDERS on acne! I never had acne too bad in HS and then I got on BC in college... once I got off BC for a few months, it was like I was going through puberty! After a few months after being on it again, it cleared right up....Yaz is great!  I was on Yaz but now use BeYaz, they are both great for your skin.  I am dreading when I have to get off them when we try to have a little one though :(

I am a big fan of Origins The Perfect World line. Its truly great for current skin as well as anti-aging.  Its never to early to start!

@ThePrincessMaggie: I have but FIRST!  Those Biore pore strips are really bad for your skin and actually make pores look bigger over time!! You're way better off just sticking to a good skin care regimen and letting your cleanser/toner clear out your pores, rather than ripping them out.  Some of that oil & gunk has to stay in there to keep your skin supple, and you run the risk of pulling out the tiny hairs on your nose, which leaves fresh holes to fill up with more oil & gunk.

To answer your original quesiton, I've started getting monthly facials, and have started incorporating a Clinique nighttime and daytime moisturiser (used to only use daytime), as well as an eye cream.  I exfoliate once a week and use a gentle cleanser every morning.  I don't wear makeup.

@danicalifornia: Another BCP to consider is Ortho-Tri Cyclen, it's FDA approved for acne.

I have a friend who started Nuva Ring and it really messed up her hormones I guess, she got awful acne afterwards and she had totally clear skin before.  It took a couple years for it to really clear up after that catastrophe >.<

I do microdermabrasions x2 weekly and a clarifying mask 1x weekly, aside from the 2x daily skin washing/moisturizing of course!

@ThePrincessMaggie: oh phew ;-) I figured I would gently drop a hint...I'd die without moisturizers.  My skin gets half dry/half over oily if I don't use it, haha!

I used to use proactiv religiously and it works great. My only problem is it dried out some areas of my face pretty good, like at my temples.

I switched in June as I knew switching would cause a bad breakout.

I'm now using products from Mary Kay and I love them. They are antiaging and the whole line is awesome. I also use an over the counter benzyl peroxyde for the acne.

My skin is the same as before acne wise and now I don't have the dry spots!

I was actually just thinking about this today. I had terrible acne in high school and ended up taking accutane for it, and I didn't get a single zit for 5 years. Within the last year though, I've started getting a few (nothing like it was in high school but still kinda annoying) so I've been doing research to find a new regime. I tried Paula's Choice and I thought it was ok, but didn't really do anything for my breakouts. A lot of people swear by it though so it might be one to look into.

Tazorac cream and a non-comedogenic moisturizer. I have adult onset acne. I have been using it for a few months, my skin still hasn't gotten clear, but retinol creams take a long time for some people.

Thank goodness I have two years.

The only thing that troubles me is I have the bar exam 3 weeks before the wedding and I get stress acne.
