    @LeSpice:  I LOVE Vegemite!!!!

    I grew up with a similar type product that is a family recipe called “smoke” so Vegemite really wasn’t much of a stretch. I love to put it on avcocado sandwiches with some freshly washed lettuce, delicious!

    Once in Paris I happened to room with a gentleman from Australia who had those traveling tubes of Vegemite and he gave me one. While it did stink up my entire backpack it was none the less amazing to have some (in the land of Marmite, which I dislike!).

    I tried it* my first morning in the dining halls at Uni in NZ. I saw a thick chocolate spread for toast…I spread it thickly, bc…I was expecting something more like nutella. I was very, very, very disappointed.

    *it may have been marmite, but for my purposes, they are the same. 😀

    I have never had it, but here in Canada we cant get vegemite, I have been told because of the crazy high salt content? My nephews (both under 5), love vegemite SO much that they have been known to cry when their supply runs out. Then they have to get their Australian aunt to ship them more!

    @LeSpice:  me! Me! I neither hate it nor love it and that wasn’t an option in your poll so I couldn’t vote. I’ll eat it occasionally but no way do I crave it or have to have it. I’m Canadian and I’m not sure if we can get it here but I have family living in Aus and when I visit, I usually end up having it on toast as a quick and easy b’fast.

    That’s it! We’re going to have to find @LeSpice: and show her how un-Australian she is being! Big spoonful of vegemite… yummy!

    Hahah I guess that’s like saying all Americans have to like that really gross dead stink bug flavour they like to refer to as ‘cherry’.  Not all of them do.. it is an acquired taste. I spend half my time in the Virgin Islands (I am there now) and I bring my vegemite (and my Masterfoods BBQ sauce) with me! But I don’t think it’s un-Australian to not like vegemite. It’s pretty nasty if you eat it by itself. Thick butter/cheese with it makes it taste much better!
