Being 5.5 months pregnant with high Bridal Party stinks! I have had a sever cold/flu since the end of last week and I can’t take anything for fear of spiking my Bridal Party. This just plain stinks. 🙁 I’m staying on top of the Tylenol and drinking lots of fluids and getting rest but that’s about all I can do.
The good thing is that I can still feel this little girl kickin’ away on a daily basis!
Rant over, just wanted to say how much this stinks!

Soooo not looking forward to my first cold, I’m such a baby with stuff like that. I feel for you!!

@crystlrox: I’m very thankful it didn’t happen closer to my due date this summer. As long as you don’t have high blood pressure, you can take a whole lot more than I can. lol But no matter what, it still stinks.

I had a bad cold in the first trimester where I went through two boxes of Klennex. It wasn’t fun, but I got through it. I can’t quite feel the baby kick, so I’m worried about every little thing I do could hurt it.

that sucks! i had 2 bad colds when i was pregnant, one was when i was 37 weeks and it lasted 2 entire weeks. it was AWFUL. my doctor recommended a med called coricidin HBP- it’s specifically for people with high blood pressure, it doesn’t raise your bp. could you ask your doc about it? it did help. Good luck and feel better!

@AvantLaLettre: I am for sure going to look into that! I need some sort of relief here. lol thanks 🙂

I am 37 weeks and I have had 2 colds so far, and yes, they suck badly! Hope you feel better soon!!

Ugh, yes they suck! I had one from week 28-30 (yes, TWO weeks!) I could not kick it – only took tylenol and of course did nothing. Feel better!

I woke up this morning with a terrible sore throat. I also had walking pneumonia a month ago. It’s awful. Plus I’m allergic to tylenol, so I literally don’t get to take anything.
I hope you feel better!

I don’t know what your symptoms are, but if they include sinus/nasal congestion, try a neti pot or other nasal wash. They’re just saline solutions, completely safe for pregnant women, and really help a lot.

Awww colds pregnant are the worst! I 2nd the neti pot suggestion!!! It helped a TON with my congestion and it made my sinuses less inflamed. Hopefully you can take it easy and don’t have too much to do.

I’m not pregnant, but I’m allergic to traditional cold medicine (dayquil, etc., etc.,) so I feel your pain! The worst is when you can’t sleep at night 🙁
Oh, if you do a neti pot, please boil the water first – I keep reading those stories (I think there have only been 2-3 cases total) of people getting that brain-eating amoeba from using them and now it skeeves me out!
Hope you are feeling better soon!

I just got over a really nasty one I caught at like 35 weeks and I’m just finally seeing the last of the nasty mucus at 39 weeks. Oh man. I will never complain about a non-pregnant cold again. They are so much worse pregnant.
I already take Zyrtec daily, which helped with the congestion. I also took Sudafed, Mucinex, Vicks, cough drops, my neti-pot, hot baths, steam…. Ugh. I think I went through about 3 boxes of Kleenex. I think the Sudafed and Vicks really did the most in terms of actually helping. I didn’t take the Mucinex until it moved down into my chest.

I feel for you! I just had a horrible cold last week and it was irritating not being able to take anything. But I knew it was going to happen eventually!

I feel for you! I am going through a cold/allergy thing right now. Hot showers always make me feel so much better. I am such a wuss about being sick. Darling Husband has been so great taking care of me, I am so greatful. I know I am not much help but I can understand what you are going through.
