I’m serioulsy worried about this…I am getting hitched in another country…and I don’t speak the language that well. I’m not staying in a hotel or any place with a spa and I’m a little embrrassed to ask my mom or relatives to take me somewhere to get it done. I would get this situation covered before I leave, but the problem is I’m heading out of the country two weeks before the wedding….so that won’t work.
How did you handle it? If you take care of this yourself, please recommend some products I could take with me that are easy to use.

Unless you’re going to be there for a long time before the wedding, couldn’t you have it done at home before you leave?

@crosscountry09: I was thinking the same thing…usually two weeks into a wax I’m still lookin’ pretty good. Wouldn’t it work to just get one right before you leave? Personally I have not tried it on myself, not sure what products to recommend.

Well, I’m not positive I won’t be seeing regrowth in two weeks….I’d rather not risk it.

I don’t know where your Destination Wedding is, but if it’s a city/resort, there’s GOT to be spa places around. Can i ask where you’re going? perhaps we could do some searching for you.

Usually two weeks into a wax I’m still totally smooth. I would just do it before you leave. Alternatively, maybe if you let us know what city you’re getting married in, we can help you with some recommendations.

Have you considered laser? I’ve been doing it and I love the results. Even after your first appointment you should be pretty hairless for a good month before the next cycle of hair comes in.

Thanks Guys..it is in Central mexico..I’d rather not say where. There’s no time for laser, couldn’t afford that anyway.
My hair grows super fast…I have have never had a professional wax, but my friends who have all vary in what they say about when it grows back, some say a week and a half and some say 3-4 weeks…so I’m not sure what to beleive.
There are definetly hotels with spas and stuff that I could go to…but the problem being how I would make an appointment, the embarassement factor of needing my families help to do that, since I’m not fluent in spanish. Who knows…maybe they will offer to take me to a spa and ask if I want a wax…I’m not sure how common bikini waxing is down there..
Has anyone used home waxing? What kind did you use?

I would NOT do this at home. However, I would make an appointment somewhere I trust (get a recommendation from a friend if possible) and get it doen before you leave. I had mine a week before my wedding and it was still good for the honeymoon. Pack a razor for touch up as necessary. I would much rather do some touch up with a razor on re-growth than worry about finding a place in a foreign country. If it helps, the local salon I go to says it takes minimum 10 days for regrowth that would even be long enough to wax and won’t make waxing appointments closer than 2 weeks together which should give you an idea of the expected results.

@slicey19: I agree at home is bad! Also, you said you have never had one before. You need to do one trial at least to make sure you don’t have a reaction to it and end up with swollen lady parts. I would do a trial sooner rather than later and you can see how long the growth takes.

I am having a Destination Wedding I am getting my waxing done the day before I leave on the trip. I wax on the regular my legs bikini under arms like everything! It usually is still looking good for almost 2 weeks with maybe a stray hair or 2 that I can pluck. I would not recomend doing it at home or in Mexico IMO

I’ve heard that you need to wax three times before you get the full results because there are 3 cycles of hair growth. I’ve gotten waxed twice now and will get the third one right before the wedding. I agree you definitely need to do a trial run and get it done at least once before you leave.

@BrynnM: Really? I’ve only heard that about laser. Very interesting, thank you!

Just get it done before you leave and bring a razor and tweezer for touch ups. I agree that you should definitely try it once before to make sure you can handle it. Not everyone reacts well. Also, go to a place that uses hard wax. I’ve done it a bunch of times and finally tried hard wax and it’s soo much better!

my suggestion is VEET, love that and its painless, do a test run before you leave in case you are allergic to any product you use, your doctor here would be better than there. Also do it a few days before so any discomfort and redness wears off.
