You have to make sure you pick the right friend to do so. We were lucky to have talented friends who did a great job MC'ing, one spoke in English and the other in Chinese. We also didn't have too much talk during the reception, just had them speak during the intros and the games.
I agree about picking the right friend. We had our best man who was great, but we also told him we didn't need him to entertain people during the night. Mainly he just introduce people and let them know whats coming up next.
We chose two friends (both also cousins of the groom). They are such amazing reliable people and really added to our wedding with their own special touches. I was really happy that we asked them - and they were really happy to do that for us. I think it just depends on who you ask - but it can definitely be a great choice! good luck. (make sure they are reliable)

Hi WeddingBees,
I'm hoping to seek advice from past brides regarding the reception. I've been searching for a dj/mc who can speak both Korean and English, but at this point, I don't think I have any other option but to ask one of our friends to help host the reception. We might go with the I-pod tactic too.
Any advice, or things I should watch for, be aware of? If you did ask a friend to dj/mc, what were some of the things you would have done differently? What were some things that worked?
Thanks for your advices!
