I am considering having my uncle (who is a regular person) officiate my wedding ceremony. Has anyone ever done this before? I was told you can semi-easily get someone “ordained” on the internet so that can legally marry people. Or is there another way around thing to make it legit?
Any ideas would be welcomed. Thanks so much!!

My friend is an “ordained minister, but he is a regular person that owns a tattoo/piercing studio, and only did it to marry a few freinds. Super easy to do on the internet I hear.
We are having my cousin marry us.
I say go for it!

It’s pretty easy, all they need is your name and credit card number!

A friend did that and I think it was pretty easy. Rules vary by state so I would look into your state’s rules.

My friend is getting ordained online through the universal life church to perform our marriage ceremony. I love the idea of someone close to us acting in that role instead of a stranger!

I have thought about asking my mom to marry us. She is a notary and in Florida, you can be both a notary and a family member to marry. She has only performed one or two…and I loved the idea of my mom doing it…as she knows he and I so well and can impart true life things….other than that I would ask my cousin but we are non denominational and he seems to have the whole bible in his brain…it may make FI a little uneasy.

@AllieInOhio: We had our friend officiate; it was super easy. We didn’t have to do anything online; just called the county we were getting married in and had them deputize a friend to perform this ONE ceremony. He had to go through some workshop and pay something like 72 dollars.
