- Wedding: October 2013
So I have no idea why anyone would want updates on what is going on with me but I need someone to share with! Also you Bees have helped me through both of these situations so I just want you to know that you did a good deed!
I received a LOT of responses to my thread about the cost of bridesmaid’s dresses (http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/day-ruiner-you-want-me-to-pay-how-much-for-a-bridesmaids-dress#axzz2VXstzRWx) and the situation with my best friend choosing dresses that cost over $300. I can’t thank you Bees enough for your support. I’ve been having a sort of rough month so I had too much on my mind to deal, but yesterday something in my heart said to call my BFF just to catch up. She sounded genuinely excited/relieved to hear from me, and we talked for a good hour and a half about wedding planning and how our lives are going. As we were about to hang up the phone, she said she wanted to tell me something quickly first. She went on to say how she had done some thinking and after all that we have been through, I have been like a sister to her for years and literally pulled her out of many awful situations and she could not live with herself if she knew that I couldn’t participate in her wedding because of money. It was a very beautiful, heartfelt speech that brought me to tears (and I am usually not a crier!) I felt as if I was being proposed to again, lol! In the end she said that she would like to (discreetly) help me purchase the dress, and for me to not answer right away but to think about how she could help me be able to afford it and we would come up with a solution together.
Also, I have been hunting for a new job recently since I just made a cross country move a few months ago. I asked for your advice on hotel positions (http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/any-hotel-employees-i-have-an-interview-tomorrow#axzz2VXstzRWx) and had some great responses. My interview went well (the manager seemed a little stuffy and hard to read, but a lot of them do, right?) and I was told that they would be making a decision by the first of the week so that they could proceed with training the next week. That was Friday, and when I hadn’t heard back by Tuesday I pretty much assumed I wasn’t going to. I had an interview Monday with a national bank, which I was excited about seeing as how it’s pretty steady work but the location would be a loong commute. I received a call from the recruiter on Wednesday saying that the General Manager really liked me but that I seemed a little nervous (well of course!) and they decided to go with someone else for their particular branch, but wanted to know if I would be up for an interview at a different branch. It turns out, the other branch is about 1/3 of the commute from where I live, so that worked out great! Today I received a call out of the blue from the hotel asking if I would like to come in to train on a trial basis on Monday, and of course I said yes. Within an hour I got a second call from the bank asking to schedule my second interview for Tuesday! Things are looking up 🙂 Who knows, I might even be in the position to have to turn one down…
Anyways, today is a good day, and I think it’s important to say it because too often we get caught up in venting about the bad days and not sharing the good days.
Hope everyone else has a good day today 🙂
