Dont pay for it! Just get a rought estimate of how many people will need a room and ask to block them for your wedding. They will call in and reserve under your wedding and that is it, they pay for it. You can add more rooms later if there are any avalible and more are needed.
Basically all the hotel does is give you a date that is the last day for your guests to reserve the rooms by before they go back on the open reservations. So if they dont reserve by X date, then they will offer them to whoever comes in wanting a room.
You shouldnt be paying for it but at the hotels in my area I did have to give them my credit card for a guarantee. I had to sign a contract that I would be 80% of the rooms that were blocked. If I didnt, we had to pay the difference. Thankfully we booked over the amount we had (this is the norm in Long Beach where hotels are right next to the Convention Center). You're guests should be calling and reserving the rooms for themselves and paying for it as well. Check the date that the rooms go back open to the public too, ours were 30 days prior to the check in date.
Thats what I thought, it was just the people I had called made me nervous and pissed off about service.

This whole block of room thing. Just so I'm getting this strait...all I (the bride) has to do is reserve the block of rooms right? Do I have to pay for anything or is that up to the guest depending how many nights they stay? I just called to reserve a block and it seemed like I didn't get anywhere so now I'm a little worried about paying. Please slap me if I'm wrong.
