I am overqualified and underpaid… and I know I’m not the only one! I took this job out of desperation – because I couldn’t find a job in my field and I had lotsa bills to pay.
I honestly don’t find joy in anything I do here and today I am feeling particularly down.
What do you do to get yourself through a miserable day? I just keep staring at the clock willing it to go by faster. Any advice on how to shake this feeling?

Chocolate chip cookie always makes me feel better!
Seriously though, sorry you’re having a bummer of a day! I think we all feel the way you are describing from time to time. What helps me is to have projects. I don’t know what sort of work you do, but if you are not assigned a mentally “meaty” project – can you find one for yourself?
On slow days, I’ve found several projects which were not requested by my boss, but once I did them, and sort of casually explained them to him (i.e., “oh, if in the future you are looking for x, y, z – I’ve done it, and saved a copy on my pc” etc.) and he seemed impressed that I took the initiative – and it keeps m from starting at the clock.
They don’t have to be huge projects – just something that is (at least somewhat) interesting to you and will get your brain refocused.
