my wedding is in 5 weeks 5 WEEKS! and i get a call just yesterday from the seamstress to say the bridesmaids dresses cannot be altered due to the type of material. seriously, i took these dresses in ages ago and was told they would be easy to change. I have now had to order new dresses IN A DIFFERENT COLOUR!
The original dresses were sage green but i cannot find any dresses this colour anywhere so have had to change my whole colour scheme and order lavender dresses instead. ( i had lavender as an accent colour for the reception)
The groomsmen already have sage green cravats. shoul i now get them lavender to match the new dresses or do you think it will look ok if they dont match?
These dresses have been the cause of so much stress for me.

@ChocolateLime: I wouldn’t change their ties. Can you use lavender in their boutonnieres?

@ChocolateLime: what kind of material can not be altered? I would try another seamstress… maybe she just does not feel confident

Ya is it made of gold? I was pretty sure every material could be altered.

@alleycat1984: the back of the dress is elasticated but the quality of the elastic isnt very good so when she was pulling it in to fit myt bridesmaid and pinning it the amount of stretch left in the fabric meant it just kept stretching and stretching no matter how much she pulled it in.
She asked me if she wanted her to do it anyway but said it will cost £30 per dress. the dresses only cost £25 online so it didnt seem worth it. I had my brodesmaid try the smaller dress on i had at home for the other girl an it did fit her, but i couldnt order another one as they were out of stock.

@ChocolateLime: How frusterating! I wouldn’t worry about changing the guys and would just let the colors be together. If you had lavender as an accent then they must be colors that compliment one another. My groomsmen will be in tan/khaki colors while my BM’s are sporting different shades of blue. At the end of the day I think it will bring a more creative flow 🙂
