My boyfriend of almost 6 years and I were just talking about how two of our friends just got approved for a house they put an offer on. Then, he says, “Do you think we could save for a downpayment in a year?” (background info- we live together, we’re both 27 with steady jobs and income)
I felt like I snapped. We talk about the future all the time- having kids, owning a house, etc. BUT never specifically about when we are getting married. This is just as much my fault as it is his… I know I could bring this up too, but the few times it has been talked about- it’s always ME that brings it up. Again, we have made no concrete plans of getting married but I’m so tired of it and I’m tired of being such a baby (for lack of a better word). Well, I’m going to bring it up over dinner. I need him to know that I want to get married, sooner rather than later.
I was about to bring it up when he started talking about the house, but I felt like I would have gone about it in the wrong way since I just felt angry. Don’t get me wrong, I want a house but I absolutely want to be married first.
Any words of wisdom appreciated and I’ll let you know how it goes.
