@katherin788:  YES! I think that’s a lovely idea! Ours is somewhat similar.  We are getting married in our backyard with 26 people and then taking everyone out to a 5-star restaurant for dinner.

No big dance
No big reception
No big pricetag 🙂

We are keeping it very personal, very private, and having only those nearest and dearest attend.  It’s allowing us to make our money go a LOT further (ie, nicer favours, non-banquet food) and we can be very personal…we are handwriting each of our couples a thank you letter to go with their favour.

It’s not everyone’s ideal wedding but its perfect for us

@katherin788: …the sky is literally the limit for you both…you have the whole day to make it yours…you could have a big Gettin Ready Open House…and have people hanging out, doing photos and getting ready OR, you and your FI could schedule a romantic couples massage before, do a nice breakfast to start the day off on a good note…take a carriage ride, literally anything!

Yes! FH and I are doing a courthouse only ceremony and then spending a day or 2 just us alone and then going to his parents house and then mine to celebrate with them.

@Nona99:  I second the couples massage that morning. WHat better way to start off your life together than that?

@thenewmrsmax:  ..if I could get away with it…I’d start every MORNING with a couple’s massage…I settle for a couples shower…so it kind of works.

I don’t think you need to do anything more to make the day super special – I think getting married in front of your closest friends and family will make the day special enough!

We got married in a church, but it was the same idea–Small wedding with a luncheon to follow!

It was GORGEOUS and amazing!

We still did invites, and I still wore an INCREDIBLE wedding dress and carried a bouquet. So it still felt like a wedding!

And that night, we went out in a party bus with our friends and went dancing!

LDay1983:  I loved reading your comment. I am in the process of planning my wedding. My fiance and I are going to get married in a courthouse in Santa Barbara. We want something very intimate and non-traditional. Sometimes I feel guilty because I know some friends and family want me to have something big. But I feel like something personal and small that saves us money and the headache of planning will be such a better option

We had ours right before he deployed. Wouldn’t change it for the world!! His friends showed up in tuxedo shirts. They did what they could with 5 days notice : ) it was still such a sweet gesture
