I went to the Dr two days ago and was diagnosed with a sinus infection and strep throat. So I am now 2 days into my antibiotics and getting sicker. My throat is worse but most of all my fever is getting higher. I’ll probably call my Dr tomorrow. But just wondering if anyone thinks this is normal.
I’m just impatient and having a pitty party for myself….I leave for Hawaii in less than a week and I realllllllly don’t wanna be sick for my trip.

Well I have been sick now for 4 weeks, had a sinus infection for two weeks of it (no antibiotics) and am still a bit stuffy and still have a cough and a bit of a sore throat. I am almost better but it has been a long haul, apparently the resent cold going around has been a tough one for everyone. It is normal for a sinus infection to take 3 to 4 weeks to clear up even when on antibiotics, you can’t rush these things your body will heal with time.
Oh I should add that using a Neti Pot or other nasal irrigation system is very helpful!

Sinus infections are often viral (although they can turn bacterial.) Viral infections do not respond to antibiotics.
Did you have a positive strep test? If so, then perhaps you weren’t given a strong enough antibiotic? Viral tonsilitus presents with similar symptoms to strep and will not respond to antibiotics.
It could be that you are being treated for a bacterial infection when you just have a viral infection that will run its course in 7-10 days.
Sorry! That’s a bummer!

Interesting your fever is higher today than yesterday… Or maybe that’s yesterday than Wednesday. How is it today? Fresh pineapple is a miracle worker for sore throats
