have you/are you having alterations made to the dress? do you have pictures of yourself in the dress? alts will make it look very different on your frame so that is a thought.

Also, is there a specific detail or reason that seems to be spurring your second thoughts?

I haven’t really begun to question my dress as I just bought it over the weekend (okay, there is one picture that makes me think “really?”) but I know that it will look different after the alterations are done & that it really was the only dress I saw that I really actually liked when I went looking.

The whole “all sales final” thing (as well as the cost) have really swayed me from 2nd guessing too much though.

I just try and think about all the positives I like in the dress I purchased, rather than focusing on the negatives/what ifs. The dress makes me feel good about myself, my partner likes it and I don’t have any major qualms with any of the design elements, so I think it is just my brain trying to sabotage me mostly.

Sorry I can’t be more help!

It’s normal, and I think part of it is all those shows where the bride to be tries on a dress and everybody breaks into tears and they all know “this is THE dress!”.

I didn’t have this moment.  I found a dress that was the opposite of what I wanted, but it was gorgeous and I looked good in it. When it came in, it was still the opposite of what I wanted and I had MAJOR dress regrets to the point where I dreaded wearing it.  When I picked up the MOH dress, I asked if they had any sample sales. I found another dress that didn’t completely sweep me off my feet, but it was beautiful, and I looked and felt great in it.  So I bought it with a 70% discount. I will wear dress 1 for the ceremony and dress 2 for the reception.  And guess what, since I bought dress 2 , I feel much better about dress 1.

I’m going through the same thing RIGHT NOW. And it’s been a terrible and emotional experience, as my mother is totally against getting a new dress.

I was having dress regret for a LONG time, and unfortunately it was too late for me to speak up and be honest before it was a done deal.

So now I am a ‘two dress’ bride and I’m still figuring out how to deal with it. I don’t have a lot of support, but I’m trying to stick with what my heart tells me.

I’m now trying to sell my first dress. It’s been emotional. 🙁

Here’s my first dress:

And my DREAM dress that I’m fighting for:

*sigh* It sucks. But…go with your heart, even if you’re all alone in it!

I bought a dress that I ended up having second thoughts about. It was really pretty but it had a much bigger skirt than I originally intended. I have proportionately small hips so it seemed like a shame to hide them under three layers of netting. The dress was gorgeous but I partially bought it because it was way under my budget. I knew that I was really having doubts about it when I couldn’t handle watching Say Yes to the Dress, haha. I ended up deciding to buy another dress and I am so excited about the one I ultimately chose. I’m trying to sell the first one but if I can’t, I think I will get it cut short to wear to the rehearsal dinner/cocktail parties in the future (it’s a style that lends itself to that).

I second guessed my dress several times.  But each time I went back to the store to try it on again, I fell in love with it all over again.  Finally I bought it after 3 tries.  Maybe you just need to put it on again and remember why you loved it in the first place?  It is a fabulous dress, by the way!

I don’t know anyone who didn’t mention second thoughts! I hated actually had wedding dreams that it looked so ugly that my DH turned around and walked the other way. I think it’s just because we want everything to be so perfect. Just think back on the reason you pruchased it and the way you felt when you put it on.

@kjr- I used to watch SYTTD and be all upset because I would fall in love with a gown on there only to later realize that I tried that same dress on and hated it! I still DVR the show and I have been married for 6 months now lol

This is happening to me too. I left a deposit on a dress and i’ve been feeling like this is not the dress for me. I keep looking at the pics and though its a beautiful dress, something just doesnt click. I’ve been stressing it so much that I’ve been getting headaches every day. So a couple of days ago I decided to take tomorrow (Fri) off from work just to go to different stores and try on more dresses. I am going alone this time since that’s how I get most of my shopping done lol! If I cancel the deposit, I will lose $120 but at this point, I don’t care…

So yeah – I totally understand how you ladies are feeling… Frown

I am having the same feelings.  I love my dress, I really do, but I’m worried it’s the wrong one.  I got a beautiful ball gown, but I’m worried that I should have done a fit and flare.  It’s way too late for me to change too!
