I am in a bit of a pickle.
The problem is my husband’s step sister and her bf have invited us to Austin for a concert on her birthday (she said this was our wedding gift although neither of us likes this band or genre). I agreed months ago but unfortunately I been informed I must take a very important test the week after, but have a test prep session the day of the concert and its in Plano where I live which is four to five hrs away. I tried to speak about this to her with a months notice. She freaked out, cried and asked me to reschedule my test. I received a scholarship and they are the ones paying the test and the prep therefore it is mandatory. She offered to pay for the test and although I could technically take the test a month later but my chances of getting into the program diminish by 75%. I don’t want to be mean and I honestly did not know I had to take this test so soon (our advisor apologized for not letting us know earlier). Like I said I care about her, but this is my future as well. What do you think?
I asked my husband and he said to not go because in other occasions when I have really needed her (like when I was deeply ill and in hospital, she called to talk about a break up with her bf, found out i was very sick then she said “oh I’m sorry” and continued to talk about her problems)
I hate being mean, advice please.
