Him lying about money more than once is rather alarming.

Did he ever tell you why he didn’t pay the rent or what happened to the money?

Ah, ok.

I’m not going to lie, that last line made me laugh lol.

Well, I hope he starts telling you what’s really going on. I would hate for a good relationship to end over something as simple and silly as that.

nearly-mrs-R:  I would be very concerned about the series of events that brought you to have to move it…

…maybe he’s too scared to tell you because you go mental and give your ring back.

Only because you mentioned a previous relationship leaving you in debt, I would be very cautious. You sound like a very nice person who is prone to getting taken advantage of. I would be so careful if he was taking your money and not paying the bills with it- even if it was due to his own money issues.

Tell him it’s MORE of a disappointment when he keeps stuff like this from you.  It’s obviously not his fault if his employer doesn’t pay him on time.  I would be more mad that he lied about paying the rent on time, that he lied at all!

nearly-mrs-R:  Sometimes it takes a 2X4 to the head to get a guy to stop thinking of his problems as his problems and turn them to our problems.  My DH had a money issue last year, and the only reason I knew about it and was able to give him the money to correct was because he was muttering about it with me in the room.  I have no doubt he would have handled it on his own, but I had the money to dig us out, and it took me basically stomping on his foot to get him to accept.

I think moving the wedding back at this point is a bit of a blessing.  Hopefully, you will get the “we are a partnership” message to sink in.
