Hi Bees! Sorry this is so long.
I think I need some opinions. I am having trouble choosing between 2 different photographers and was wondering what you guys would choose. I would have liked not to spend more than $2500.
This photographer is more affordable, offers more in the package but only works by herself
Details for $2500: Engagement session (with HIGH resolution disc), 9 hours of coverage, 300 4×6 prints, all wedding photos on high resolution disc with printing rights, 60 day online gallery. This photographer works alone (I will have roughly 200 people invited to the wedding). She releases all the pictures she takes for the wedding editted on disc (roughly 600-700 photos). Her turnaround time for us (we will be getting married 12-1-12) would not be until most likely after christmas due to holidays. She also offers discounts on albums/prints purchased after the wedding and her prices for other products are overall less expensive than the 2nd photographer.
This photographer is a bit more expensive, offers less in her package but I like her personality a lot more (we mesh better I think). And she is offering to bring an assistant at no extra charge.
Details for $2500 plus tax [turns out to be around $2,720]: Engagement session (with LOW resolution disc). 10 hours of coverage, 150 prints, 600-700 photos on high resolution disc from wedding (she actually takes about 1200-1500 photos during a wedding), 1 year online gallery. Her turn around time would be before christmas (which is really nice).
So here is my dilemma: Do I pick the second photographer because I think we will work better together and end up paying a little more for EVERYTHING down the road? Also a plus is that there will be 2 people photographing the wedding, which I thought was also another important aspect.
I like both of their photos ALOT, although I think that the first photographer’s photos tend to get a little more of an emotional response out of me (she is very nice, but I feel my personality will work better with the second photographer)
How should I prioritize these things? Personality, number of photos taken/released, second photographer, resolution of engagement photos, number of hours coverage, turnaround time? I mean the difference in price for the wedding package is ~200 dollars.
I should also add that the extra hours of coverage might be nice because Fiance wants photos of him and his groomsmen at the barbershop earlier that day (photographer 2 agreed to do this by breaking up the 10 hours of coverage, and I think photographer 1 would do this too but she is only offering 9 hours coverage at the discounted price of 2500 including tax). This is something he wants but I’m not sure its absolutely necessary.
I’m torn. Please help! Thanks in advance.
