@Paiger8:  You know MoissaniteCo can custom it? You could ask for the knife edge to be in 2mm for you. Of course, you could never return it as it would be custom, but that sounds like the perfect solution for you πŸ™‚

I have a nearly 2ct stone in a 2mm, knife edge setting. I was concerned about it sitting too high as well, but once it’s on your finger – you don’t think twice! One of the things i’ve grown to love about my ring is how classic it looks with the thin band – and I plan on stacking a family band with an eternity band, and it doesnt look clunky. I also have never noticed that it seems to sit high! Go 2 mm!

I have a 1.8mm band for my ering and my wedding ring and I like the thinness of it. I think if it were me, I would do a 1.8 or 2 mm band and add the knife edge. I’m all about making the stone pop.

If you can’t get the rings the same width, I would go with a thicker band on the engagement ring.  My ring is 1.8mm and my band is 2mm and most people do not notice it but it drives me insane (partially because I swear that when we bought the set it matched but after resizing it was off!).

Edit: The knife edge has a lower profile than the 2mm, so personally I would go with that one.  My setting is similar to the 2mm and it sticks up quite a bit.  I cannot put my hand in my jeans pocket.

I like the look at the second one better, I am biased because it looks like my ring but I agree with PP that I cannot put my hand in my pocket. But who wants to hide the beautiful ring! hehe

Here is my ring and band, I had a hard time as well.

I love the thinner one… the board needs a poll.

my e-ring and band are both under two mm and have some decorationy things on them, they feel perfectly substantial to me, but I personally wouldn’t want to go wider. I am a huge fan of just trying on a bunch until you find theone that you like best.

@Paiger8:  Yep, I probably do, lol. I was the same way. I posted side pics of my rings to get advice, I told my FI he would have been better off just buying my band too. He picked and bought the e-ring I had no clue and I stressed about the band. I really didn’t want a gap, so I had to search for a band that had a little notch since my e-ring diamond sits high, but the prong goes all the way down.

Both are 2mm, but I think my e-ring looks a little thinner with the knife edge.

Here are pics of both:

@Paiger8:  np! wow that is a big difference, looks like a momma and baby. My diamond isn’t as big, its just under a carat, that one looks tall! πŸ™‚
