DH and I have been thinking of going to Hawaii for our 1 year anniversary. Have any of you ever been? Which island would you recommend/which booking site or travel agent would you suggest?

I'm not from Portland, but wanted to comment anyways. We went to "the big island." Lol. It was fantastic! We stayed at the Hilton Waikoloa Village (I'm not sure I spelled it right from memory.) We really enjoyed it and being able to go from the pretty beaches to the middle of the island with Volcano Nat'l Park (again...name could be wrong, ha) and to Black Sand Beach. There just seemed to be a lot to do. We didn't use a travel agent, but we booked through my Dad's work because he gets Hilton credits.

Hawaii is a great place to travel to, and I don't think that you need to book through an agent to get good deals. There are several local airlines (aka that fly out of PDX) that have direct, non-stop flights to Hawaii. I have gone quite a few times and I always fly Hawaiian Airlines. If you sign up for their emails, they will let you know when their fares go on sale, and you can get them for as little as $350 pp rt.

    Happy hunting!

HI :) I have done some searching on vacations in Hawaii. I would look into Sam's or Costco if you have a membership, they have travel deals. Also try, www.pleasantholidays.com

Others that have given us their opinion have said Oahu is very busy and fun, but if you want to relax and have a romantic vacation, go to Maui for the first time. :)

    Good luck!
