- Wedding: September 2014
Hello bees, I was a pre-existing bee 2 years ago when my ex and I of 5 years ended things. I created a new name last week and decided to re-join because my now Fiance (that’s so weird!) had asked for my parents permission and I knew a proposal was not far behind! So I’m happy to be back and so ecstatic to be planning a wedding!
Now for the Proposal:
So FI and I have been dating for 8 months. He has family that lives on a super nice beach where we live so for memorial day, he took me out to spend the day at the beach. (Side note about me, I’m a biology major-marine science and anything beach I LOVE). So we spent the day on the beach and ultimately he romatically asked me to be his girlfriend while we were watching the sunset waiting for our dinner table. He was so romantic about it, and also proceeded to tell me he knew he would marry me someday! So fast forward to 2 days ago. We were invited to go to the beach with his parents and some other family because they had family from out of town coming to visit. So we drove to the beach and spent the day with the majority of his family. I wasn’t feeling too well, so a proposal was the furthest thing from my clogged head! He asked me if I wanted to go watch the sunset and I said sure (it’s something we always do when we’re at the beach). So we waited until it got close and went walking. His family all came too, but they went a different way (this got me thinking, but again, I didn’t even think he had a ring!) So we walked past the restauraunt where we ate when he asked me out. We made it to the end of the beach and then turned to come back. It ended up being cloudy so we couldn’t see the sunset, but we were both just happy to be together on the beach. As we were walking back he asked me if I wanted to grab a drink at the restauraunt. I told him we didn’t have shoes so we couldn’t. He shrugged it off and a few minutes later asked me if remembered what he told me on the beach the first time he brought me. I said of course, you asked me to be your girlfriend and told me you wanted to marry me someday (I also told him for the first time that him knowing he wanted to marry me after only knowing me for a few weeks completely freaked me on the inside but I trusted him back then so I kept my mouth shut haha). So at this point we were facing each other and I was telling him sarcastically about how he never officially asked “will you be my girlfriend”. After some laughs, he grabbed both of my hands (this is when I was like oh my gosh is he about to do what I think?!) He said “I’ll try to make this more obvious” and proceeded to get down on one knee. Now I completely freaked, hands over mouth, “You’re not doing this, this isn’t happening” the whole bit! In my head I was screaming at myself to pay attention and take in every word, because they were so important! I actually didn’t remember most of it right after, but since telling the story and now writing it out, I have it down pretty well. He said sweet things about me being his best friend and how he wanted to grow old with me, etc. I’m going to keep it private, but it was more than perfect. Then he did a sooo…and reached into his pocket. This is when it became really real, I looked away in disbelief, and when I looked back, he had the ring box open, and asked me if I would marry him! I bent down and kissed him and said YES! OF COURSE YES! and we hugged and hugged. When I finally saw the ring it was absolutely stunning and so perfect! I told him the cut I loved and that I’d like a halo, but he did the rest! We walked back and I called my parents and my 2 best friends. He told me his whole family knew, and once we walked into the house, there was an entire party and celebration for us! So we have my reaction and all the joy on video! The best part is that I had called my parents to tell them, and then as I was explaining their reactions to his parents, my mom spoke up. I turned around to see both of my parents in the hallway! I ran to my mom and a full on break down occurred. I had gotten teary-eyed during the proposal, but seeing my parents and having them be a part of the celebration solidified everything and it couldn’t have been more perfect! Once fact I forgot to mention is that it was sprinkling for a while until we left for our walk, and then as soon as we got back to the house, it down poured! So timing and everything really could not have been more perfect! I am so completely happy and blessed and can’t wait for the future! Let the planning begin!
Now for the bling =)
