I originally wasn’t going to post how until Monday, since we originally weren’t going to tell anyone until then, but we just couldn’t keep it in and called our families and put it on Facebook. So I just wanted to post how he asked 🙂
I’d pointed out to him a few days ago that I didn’t need a fabulous ring to agree to marry him. He wasn’t listening, which I pretty much expected. He’s kind of traditional in some respects and very much wants to be able to provide, which he felt proposing without a ring would mean he was unable to do. Anyway, He was off work yesterday, so when I got home from class, he was home. He was on his computer looking at rings. I was like “Okay, whatever” and sat on the couch with my laptop to start working on a grocery list, since we had to go to the store.
He got up and did that thing guys do where they take a few deep breaths, trying to work up the nerve to do something. I looked at him, wondering what he was doing. He got down on one knee and I just stared at him as he started to talk before I realized I needed to put my laptop aside. I started crying and he got the words out just before I practically tackled him in a hug. We went into the bedroom and he showed me a ring he’d picked up before putting it on my finger.
He explained to me that he’d talked to his dad, who pointed out to him that he didn’t need THE ring in order to propose, since he insisted on giving me a ring. His dad suggested getting me a temporary ring from a pawn shop or something until my guy can afford the ring he wants to give me. So, it’s not the ring I want, but I really don’t care. He asked me to marry him and we’re getting married 😀 We decided on a two year engagement, since next year is just going to be insane (I’m finishing school, have to do my externship, graduate, and we’re talking about moving across the country once that’s done).

TiaMP: Thank you! 😀 And yes, he’s definitely a keeper 🙂 Wouldn’t have wanted to marry him if I didn’t think so 🙂
Laur12: Thanks! He definitely picked something pretty 🙂 I honestly would’ve been happy without a ring at all. I just want to be his wife. The ring is secondary to me.
longtimemrs: The funniest part of the whole thing was that he was completely dressed except for his shoes… and one sock. And he stayed that way until we went to the store, lol. And thank you! 🙂
rachel85: Thank you! 🙂
Jadegreen: We’re planning on a two year engagement, so whether he changes the ring or not is up to him. I hope it happens for you soon! What does the ring you want look like?
Robyn0214: Thank you! 😀
